Fake Stlinks reaching me trough "legit" distributors. Which STCubeProgrammer version shall we use?

My company just purchased 10x new STLINKS in WINSOURCE.

We are having trouble using them with newer versions of STCubeProgrammer(v.2.10.0)

,they work fine with the old STlinkUtility.

I am also unable to upgrade the Fake STlink:

 

The BOX seems legit:

 

 The plastic molding looks alright also, the back sticker is upside down.

 

Once i open the new stlink, i notice the mcu markings are erased.

:D I was not underestimating your knowledge in any way, but just wanted to use this thread as a springboard to the knowledgebase article. This question has come up quite a lot in the community lately, which is why I prophylactically added this everywhere.

I was wrong - today I noticed both STLink/v2 and -ISOL available at Mouser (a.k.a. eshop.st.com ) and several other trustworthy outlets.
