When i try to perform a full chip erase, i get the error: mass erase operation failed. please verify flash protection. I tried doing it sector by sector but get an error. I tried a few times and disconnected and reconnected my board. I'm not sure where to verify flash protection.

What chip? Show a screenshot of the option byte values.
What program are you using? STM32CubeProgrammer seems to work better most of the time, but ST-Link Utility can also work.

I tried using both ST-Link Utility and STM32CubeProgrammer and get the same failing error on both.

So STM32G0, ST-LINK Utilites does look to be having issues reading the memory, not clear why.
Is this a board of your own construction?

Not real sure. Verify the target voltage matches what you expect.
