I can't seem to install the ST-LINK Utility for STM32.
()The InstallShield exe gives me error 1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance.I am really stuck, so I am hoping someone recognizes this error and can point me in the right direction as what to do. Looking for this error on the net gives no satisfactory answer. Maybe I am not the only one, so I'd like to confirm.Your help is much appreciated. #installshield #st-link-utility2015-07-20 06:16 PM
Tends to be very system specific, which you don't describe.
AV software can significantly interfere, review the settings for that, and any policy/settings in your system that might impede installation. Run as Administrator. If corporate prod your IT guys.2015-07-21 05:47 AM
I see now my post should be in the STM32 Software Tools and Firmware board.
I have tried running the .exe as administrator, but no succes.I could confirm that I can install the utility on another windows 7 system, so I am wondering if it will be OK to just copy the installation dir to the problematic system?Otherwise I will review settings that might interfere, but what might interfere with the installation of the link utility, there's no antivirus on the system, any other ideas?2015-07-21 07:56 AM
You can try whatever you want, the PC isn't going to catch fire. You could try an older version of the utilities.
I'd probably double check the UAC settings, and if you're set the system to require signed drivers. But I know next to nothing about your systems, you need to figure out what's broken. You could try to dig through Microsoft's Knowledge Base articles and run some of the ''Fix It!'' stuff to see if it's due some broken DLLs, DCOM or registry non-sense.https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/910816
