STripFET F7 Negative Vgs Voltages

Hi Everyone,

I am using the STL120N4LF6AG device in a product and I was wondering if there is any have to turning it off with a negative Vgs voltage? The data sheet only lists a positive Vgs limit (40V) so it is unclear what it's tolerance to a negative voltage is.

Thanks,

David

Wow, 40 Volt of UGS? How think is the gate oxide? I wonder if that is a typo! For unprotected FETs, UGS is limited by the field strength, so polarity does not matter. ESD protected devices will have a diode and so will conduct current for negative UGS.

Agreed, It is very high, but not unheard of. I need >33V Vgs for my application, and even with an external ESD diode I am suffering from deaths. So I'm trying to eliminate possibilities, thanks for your input!
