"Not recommended for new designs" should be on the first page. (L9963)

If the device is obsolete, it should be easy for new users to identify this.

Isn't it right there next to the part number? Where do you want it to be instead?

Presumably if you bump up a level it will list all parts in the same category, and with status too.

Is the problem here it doesn't list drop-in alternatives, or the font is the wrong colour or insufficiently large?

The part is not "obsolete", they are just are at or near capacity planning for the device, and the economics don't drive expansion or extension of those plans. Perhaps they'd prefer you'd pick something with better margin or yield. Plan accordingly..

It's been my experience that vendors don't really want or need to disclose their reasoning, it's their business to know what they do and do not want to make moving forward. Remember companies like Apple are likely underwriting particular parts, so unless you have a large check book to do the same, the focus is going to be on the products that the "Big Company" wants delivered.

Hello,  you are right. In any case the board is not obsolete: it's only Not Recommended for New Design because linked to L9963 that is NRND as well.

If interested you need to refer to the the product L9963E and related boad EVAL-L9963E.

regards.
