There are several factors influencing the max current in your design, e.g.:
- current limit (for L5973D: min 2.5A)
- power dissipation (max 2.25W according to the datasheet)
- thermal resistance (for L5973D: 40K/W)
- ambient temperature
- possibly additional cooling
You should be able to get an output current of 2A, but maybe it is a good idea to simulate your design using our eDesignSuite.
