Flashing Issue with SPC582B60E1MH00Y Using SPC5Studio and SPC5-LNKU

Dear ST Support Team,

I hope you are doing well.

Our team is currently working on a Mining Vehicle Monitoring System, and we are using the SPC582B60E1MH00Y microcontroller as part of the embedded control unit. Development is being carried out in SPC5Studio with the SPC5-LNKU (AEK-MCU-SPC5LNKU) debugger.

Setup Details:

  • Microcontroller: SPC582B60E1MH00Y

  • IDE: SPC5Studio (latest version)

  • Debugger: SPC5-LNKU (AEK-MCU-SPC5LNKU)

  • Operating System: Windows 10

Issue Description:

We are able to build the project successfully in SPC5Studio with 0 errors and 0 warnings. However, when we attempt to start the debugger (or flash the code), the following error appears:

GDB Launching Failed – GDB version not supported

Upon further investigation, it appears that the current toolchain or debugger configuration may not support flashing or debugging with our setup. It is unclear whether the problem lies in the software (SPC5Studio) or in hardware support (SPC5-LNKU).

This issue is currently blocking our ability to proceed with flashing code to the controller.

Our Request:

We kindly request your guidance and support to help us resolve the following:

  1. Is SPC5-LNKU fully supported for flashing and/or debugging the SPC582B60E1MH00Y using SPC5Studio?

  2. If not, what are the recommended alternatives for:

    • Flashing the controller

    • Debugging with breakpoints and variable inspection

  3. Are there any additional setup steps, plug-ins, or configuration changes required for successful flashing?

We would sincerely appreciate your support, as resolving this issue is critical for the progress of our project.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
