Troubleshooting USB3300 USB-HS Host on OPEN405R-C Board

MinhTris

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on running the USB HS examples (USB_Host_Device_Examples - dual role device) provided in the user manual for the OPEN405R-C. My goal is to use the board to read files (e.g., .txt, .png) from a USB drive.

Setup Details:

  • Development Tools: Code loaded using Keil uVision and ST-Link V2.
  • Hardware: OPEN405R-C connected to a WaveShare USB3300 via the ULPI interface.
  • Configuration: System set to USB host mode.

Issue:

The board fails to detect or read files from the USB drive. I have tested the setup with three different USB drives, including a 16GB Kingston DT100G3 (USB 2.0 compatible). Based on the USB3300 datasheet, the configuration should support high-speed mode and meet the project requirements.

Despite multiple attempts and different USB drives, the system still does not recognize any of them. I’ve attached some image of my project setup for reference (apologies for the poor quality).

Request:

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have suggestions on how to resolve this? Any insights or troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support!

As it's a Waveshare product - not ST - have you contacted Waveshare for support?

How is it connected - a Waveshare board? a 3rd-party board? a custom board?

Also not an ST product - have you contacted Microchip for help with debugging the issue?

I am currently utilizing a Waveshare Open405R-C-Standard development board alongside several peripherals included in package A. These peripherals specifically include the USB3300, and two SN65HVD230 transceivers etc...
I connect the USB3300 directly to the OPEN405R-C standard board through ULPI interface
I have already submitted a support ticket to Waveshare regarding this matter, but unfortunately, I have not yet received a response.

Would certainly be worth also contacting Microchip & posting on their forum - they would be best able to help in what to look for in debugging USB3300 issues ...

Thank you for your suggestion! Reaching out to Microchip and posting on their forum is a great idea and could indeed be another valuable source to seek a solution. I appreciate your input and will definitely explore this option. Thanks again!
