Hi,
I cant establish a link with the emulator with the board that I've fabricated. I've followed the schematic as in the STR710-EVAL board page 24 of 27. Also, I've probed and checked the connections and layout of the evaluation board and it matches the one in the schematic. The error that is shown is : Target held in reset. Currently, I'm using the JTAG Interface of the evaluation board together with my own fabricated board to communicate and it works perfect! So, any solution for the above problem? Hi ongth60,
Can you tell me which evaluation board schematic revision you are using, and which software tools is used to connect to your board. cheers, Hich ;)2005-07-06 08:00 PM
Hi,
Im using RVDK 1.6.1 and MB393-2.04. After using the fabricated board to test out the JTAG connection, I can't connect to the evaluation board. :( The error that i received is the same as before : Error : Target held in reset. Warning : Disconnect mode is invalid - ignored. Also, when i tried to configure the connection using Auto Configure Scan Chain, it pops up an error stating Auto configure failed. Check the RVI connection with the target or try using a lower fixed frequency. Rgrds, ongth602005-07-06 09:06 PM
could you send your schematic just connection between STM811 and JTAG Interface

Hi,
I've tried connecting at lower frequency but failed. Between, i've fabricated and tried three debug boards based on three schematics. The first schematic is based on the schematic of the STR710-EVAL board page 24 except that the transistors i used are tru hole MPS A14 transistors as replacements. Also, the location of the J4 jumper is changed to the recommended location from the AN 1775 page12. I connect the jumper, and when i try to connect the jtag board to the mcu, it will connect but maybe 3 times in 10 tries. So, since the link is not robust enough, i try and modify it by adding a STM811 reset circuit to the jtag board. By then, i cant connect to the emulator and i thought that the jtag board was wrong!! SO...since all the time im using the evaluation board jtag circuit minus the CPU to connect to my fabricated board, which contain the CPU...so i fabricated another jtag board exactly like the one from eval board documentation page 24 except the transistors i used are mps a06. But by then, the emulator should be spoilt already but I didnt knew it until i checked the emulator with another evaluation board, thinking that the emulator was working!! Hi,
Attachments for reset circuit.debug1.jpg refers to the first schematic while debug2.jpg refers to the second schematic that i've mentioned. rgrds, ongth60 ________________ Attachments : debug1.JPG : https://st--c.eu10.content.force.com/sfc/dist/version/download/?oid=00Db0000000YtG6&ids=0680X000006I1PJ&d=%2Fa%2F0X0000000bme%2F.NLRypFMOFepXL_HdjZchEEfu3kR4BOzgme4R8QlzvI&asPdf=falsedebug2.JPG : https://st--c.eu10.content.force.com/sfc/dist/version/download/?oid=00Db0000000YtG6&ids=0680X000006I1P9&d=%2Fa%2F0X0000000bmf%2FvxGpoqYqJ4nGcKqX1LdsBz7AzZE5mgb_IQlqut7eBO0&asPdf=false2005-07-07 12:52 AM
Hi ongth60,
Your Schematic is correct but R8(47K) is not necessary. I suggest to connect without J1(do not fited) Best regards, Punto :)2005-07-07 01:03 AM
Hi Punto,
Which schematic are u referring to? debug1.jpg or debug2.jpg? By d way if using debug1.jpg I can connect but the link is not robust, I can only connect 2 out of 10 tries!! Btw, I fear my emulator might be spoilt due to the testing. Rgrds, ongth602005-07-07 02:14 AM
Hi Risc,
It is pulled high(mandatory) cos it can sometimes connect previously but now no longer can connect due to mayb the emulator spoilt!! rgrds, ongth60
