TS555

TS555CN is a low power version of NE555.

TS555CN is made by ST

All Datasheets of TS555CN say ''high output current capability''

but there is no max output current given in any DataSheet!

is the max output current better than with NE555 ?

how much is it ?

Is there a package of TS555 that can be cooled?

thanks

Gerald Trost

Hello Gerald,

In the table 2 of TS555 datasheet, it is specified the maximum allowed output current.

Here follows the maximum output current :

    Isink (current going into the IC) = 10mA

    Isource (current going out of the IC) = 50mA

In addition, we can note that in the NE555 datasheet, the output current is higher :

    Isink = 200mA

    Isource = 200mA

Thus, the NE555 has more output current capabilities than the TS555. However, the TS555 has a better current consumption and lower threshold/trigger currents.

Regarding your last question, we do not propose this kind of package, but this DIP8 package allows it have a better power dissipation even with a single layer PCB.

Please, note also that both TS555 and NE555 are in NRND status (Not Recommended for New Design).

Best regards,

Sylvain

Hello Silvian!

Many thanks for the good information.

Maybe you also know a stronger ''555'',

maybe there is a 555 available with very low

Power consumption like TS555 and high

sink-source current of 300mA.

If you know this device than please tell me.

yours, Gerald

Hello Gerald,

I'm afraid to tell you that we do not offer timer with such a low current consumption and high output capabilities.

However, for your designs don't hesitate to think to our wide portfolio of opamps, comparators, analog switches, voltage references, temperature, pressure sensors or microcontroller to develop you application, making STMicroelectronics your one stop shop.

Best regards,

Sylvain
