Hello,Please excuse the basic question, I am reading the datasheet of stm32f429ve trying to understand which pins I need to send data from the microcontroller to an audio codec using I2S. I understand the I2S interface requires three pins, with an optional fourth pin:Bit clock, using PB13 = I2S2_CKWord clock, using PB12 = I2S2_WSSerial data, using PB15 = I2S2_SDMaster clock, using PC6 = I2S2_MCKHowever, I do not understand the function PB14 = I2S2_ext_SD. Is this dependent on whether the pin is transmitting or receiving like MOSI or MISO in SPI? I cannot find this documented anywhere which makes me think it must be obvious :)

There were MANY demo programs on the evaluation kit on first power on.  Since I have been trying out different example software, I see that I have flashed over the top of the original demo.  I suspect I just need to build another project with another example program, but there are so many!  Anyone know what the example program is called that the evalulation board came with?

Hello,I am a PowerTrain Electronics Hardware Architect by profession. For one of my new hobby electronics developement I decided to use STM32 micro controller. To start with I bought NUCLEO_F030R8 and able to blink on board LED as I program. Then I tried to program on board micro controller with my ST-LINK/V2 ISOL. I disconnected both jumpers at CN2. Tapped out SWCLK of target controller from pin 2 of CM6. Then tapped out SWDIO from pin 4 of CN6. I took 3.3V and GND from CN6 pins 4 and 6 respectively. I connected these four wires to ST-LINK/V2 ISOL as in the image In Debug configurations of CubeIDE, ST-LINK/V2 ISOL is founf with SWD setting. But when I try to program I get error message as target not found. What am I missing here? Is the reset is mishandked by onboard programmer? Should I take care of this and few others?Thank you, Anesh S.

Hey,I am using the STM32f769NIH controller and my application has Touchgfx and freeRTOS enabled. The code downloading time is too slow and I want to speed it up.I figured that turning off the external loaders in the debug configurations yields a smaller code size. Originally it was 6.08 MB and after the it became 256 KB. This .srec file takes mere 6 seconds to download while the 6.08 MB file took 1 minute. The issue is the IDE keeps waiting for debugger connection for almost 1.5 minutes before it finds it and then downloads the code (Image attached). I need the command which can generate the .srec file with input elf file. It should exclude external loaders. I'll manually download this .srec file from the STMCubeprogrammer.Currently I'm using this command which generates the file but the code doesn't work. "%OBJCOPY%" -O srec --gap-fill 0xFF --strip-debug --srec-len=32 --srec-forceS3 --remove-section=.loader --remove-section=*FlashSection "%BUILD_DIR%\STM32F769I_DIS

so i was following an online tutorial (from digikey, where they teach how to use dma) and in it the values from ADC is transmitted through DMA to a buffer of decent size (4096byte). But it seems they always use the hal delay function after using uart transmission. Is this necessary, i noticed that without the delay function my frequency goes from 1khz to 7khz and i dont see any issues with the transmission too.i mentioned about the dma from adc in case its relevant for using the delay function in uart

Hello,I started a blank project for the STM32H743 with AzRtos, ThreadX, NetXDuo..  There is something weird with the compiler and linker, or I don't understand how to setup the project...The project compiles and runs, but the memory mapping seems to be all over the place, and I can't figure out why. There are 2 RAM sections that I want to use... RAM_D1 (axi-ram) and RAM_D2 (SRAM1).  These are the current locations/size:So, I want all the data, stack, variables to go into RAM_D1 (@2400_0000) and only the ethernet Descriptors and DataPool in (@3000_0000).In the ethernet configuration, I setup the memory addresses as follows:Note: it seems the RxBuffers Address is not used anywhere (correct me if I'm wrong, but I searched everywhere in the code and could not find it being used).  Anyway, the Ethernet descriptors were put at 0x3000_0000, and 0x3000_0060. Under AzureTROS settings, I allocated 40k to the NetXDuo memory pool In the Flash.Id file I made these entries:.e

Hi,I am trying to set up a basic project on a Nucleo H743ZI2 using AZRTOS ans NetX, but I can't get it to work. I am relying on this guide: https://community.st.com/t5/stm32-mcus/creating-a-dual-ipv6-amp-ipv4-netxduo-udp-application-for/ta-p/570521The only change I made was turning off IPv6 and deleting the code that manages it. However, I can't even ping the board. I also tried with the program linked in the guide, but it didn't work either. I don't think it is a problem with a board, because I tried the same thing with FreeRTOS + LWiP and it worked just fine. I am new to AzureRTOS and NetX, so I don't really know what to look for.I'd appreciate any help.

Hello,I started a new project using the H743, ethernet, LAN8742 and NetXDuo (on one of our custom boards).  Its a very simple project that initializes the hardware, initializes AzRtos, ThreadX, and NetXDuo, and starts TCP, UDP, and ICMP.  This project is just a base (Starting point) for much bigger projects.  When connected to the network, i can ping the board, it can either use a static IP or  the DHCP client. The strange part is that the software works when the clock configuration is set to 400MHz.  If I try to set it to 480MHz, NetXDuo doesn't receive any packets from the network.  At 480MHz, the phy is working properly and it detects (prints a line) stating the status of the ethernet cable (plugged in / unplugged). The phy is sending a 50mhz clock to the H743, so I don't understand why the MCU works at 400 but not 480.   Anyway, I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why it doesn't work.  Everything in the Clock Configuration

I am using pin PA8 in open drain GPIO output mode to control the power supply voltage on a custom board. Normally, the power supply output 5V but when PA8 is set low, it adds an extra 3k resistor to ground to the voltage feedback pin on the power supply and the output switches 12V.The voltage feedback node is nominally 2.5V.This works fine except that when PA8 is high (open drain), the supply outputs around 7.5V and the voltage at the PA8 pin is around 1.5V, not the 2.5V I would expect. Internal pull-ups and pull-downs are disabled.I rewired the prototype board and switched to a different pin (PB11) and everything worked correctly. This problem exists on all of the prototype boards that we have powered up so far. What is going on? Why is that particular pin acting like it has a very weak pull-down when high instead of going open drain?

I am developing a low-power application and need to add a button-input. As the MCU (STM32WLE5) is in sleep (STOP2) most of the time (waking up by RTC every 30 seconds), the button press needs to trigger an interrupt which also wakes up the MCU.FYI, my current board consumption in sleep is 1.4 uAI cannot add a standard GPIO input, because the current consumption of the schmitt-triggers is too high, so I tried to use the TAMP input, as this seems to allow for low-power applications. The button simply switches PB3 (Tamp input 3) to GND.I am able to get an interrupt from the button which wakes up the MCU from STOP2. However, the current consumption of the MCU in STOP2 still increased from 1.4 uA to 45uAHere is my tamper pin setup : sTamper.Tamper = RTC_TAMPER_3; sTamper.Trigger = RTC_TAMPERTRIGGER_FALLINGEDGE; sTamper.NoErase = RTC_TAMPER_ERASE_BACKUP_DISABLE; sTamper.MaskFlag = RTC_TAMPERMASK_FLAG_DISABLE; sTamper.Filter = RTC_TAMPERFILTER_DISABLE; sTamper.SamplingFrequency = RTC_TAM

Hello,I am currently working on a small device with a C071GBU. This is the first time I am using a chip with shared pins (PA12/PA10 and PA11/PA9) as well as no dedicated single-function BOOT0 pin.My PCB has very tight space constraints, so software debugger or programming pads are no option - everything must work via the USB port, from first time setup on.If I understood the specsheet correctly ("Pins PA9 and PA10 can be remapped in place of pins PA11 and PA12 (default mapping), using SYSCFG_CFGR1 register"), PA12/PA11 are default (and not PA10/PA9), so a fresh chip out of the box can be used for USB DFU, am I correct in this assumption? Then there is my next question - how does BOOT0 work? If I understand correctly, the boot selector bits decide whether PA14 is BOOT0, or whether a software bit is used. The patterns in AN2606 are as follows:What I do not understand - how are the defaults? As in, if I have a fresh chip directly from the factory, how is it set up? Will PA14 operate as BOO

Hello Everyone, I'm trying to write a float value into my STM32H743VIT6 flash memory, bit it jumps straight to the HardFaultHandler and I cannot understand why...  Here's the two functions:   HAL_StatusTypeDef Store_AltitudeMax(float altitude) { HAL_StatusTypeDef status; uint32_t FirstSector, NbOfSectors, SectorError; FLASH_EraseInitTypeDef EraseInitStruct; // Ensure data is written in a full 32-byte Flash word uint64_t FlashWord[4] = { 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF }; memcpy(&FlashWord[0], &altitude, sizeof(float)); // Unlock Flash status = HAL_FLASH_Unlock(); if (status != HAL_OK) { return status; } // Get the sector of ALTITUDE_MAX_ADDRESS FirstSector = GetSector(ALTITUDE_MAX_ADDRESS); NbOfSectors = 1; // Only erase 1 sector // Configure Erase Structure EraseInitStruct.TypeErase = FLASH_TYPEERASE_SECTORS; EraseInitStruct.VoltageRange = VOLTAGE_RANGE; EraseInitStruct.Banks = FLA

Hello,I am using a gate driver IC (1EDN8511BXUSA1) that operates with a 9-10V power supply. The IN- input of the IC is connected to a GPIO pin of the STM32L496, which is internally pulled up to VCC with a 400kΩ resistor (as shown in the picture). At startup, the GPIO pin receives 9V before the initialization process. My question is whether the GPIO pin could be damaged by the 22.5µA injection current that occurs for a short duration during startup?Thank you for your help.

Hi,Where can I find the design files of the MB2032B mini board? Especially the pcb file would be helpful on antenna design.

CubeMX under Monterey seems to now think that all of my ioc files are read-only and not valid project files. Also, when I <File><Load Project> no files or directories show up in my Documents directory. This all worked before I updated to Monterey.

Hello awsome peaple of the ST fourms,I've been writing a program on the MB1551-U585AI1-D01 STM32U5 dev board, after getting DMA working and writing some AzureRTOS aware platform functions for the MEMS sensors on the board I have been very successful in communicating with both the ISM330DHCX (IMU) and IIS2MDCTR (Magnetometer). However, I have a single issuse that has just popped up that has me puzzeld. During setup of the ISM330DHCX I first check the WHO_AM_I to make sure the sensor is present and talking, I then attempt to software reset it.  // Initialize IMU stmdev_ctx_t imu_dev_ctx; imu_dev_ctx.write_reg = imu_platform_write; imu_dev_ctx.read_reg = imu_platform_read; imu_dev_ctx.handle = NULL; uint8_t whoamI, rst; ism330dhcx_device_id_get(&imu_dev_ctx, &whoamI); if (whoamI != ISM330DHCX_ID) { //TODO: Handle device not found tx_thread_suspend(&imu_thread_ptr); } // Reset the device // The bellow is me testing how the device behaves after the r

While debugging on the Stm32g474, I enabled write protection. Now I want to disable it. It seems like this is impossible with the Stm32Cubeprogrammer? It will not allow me to enter an invalid address or an address that ends before it starts. How am I supposed to disable WRP on the chip? Thanks

I have a STM32F469I-DISCO board. It seems that I am unable to change the GPIO Pull-up/Pull-down Mode for a timer. I have tried to do it both in the CubeMX interface, and I have also looked through the HAL methods and attributes. I don't think it's an option. Does anyone happen to know why?

Hello, I'm a novice at using this forum and programming stm32 boards, so any advice is appreciated.  My plan is to use two stm32wl552jc1 boards to collect weather data and display at a remote location.  My goal is to learn how to program the stm32 boards while developing this weather data project.   At the beginning here I have several questions. 1. Is the nucleo wl552lc1 the right board to use for this project? 2. Which cube ide should I use?  There are so many it's confusing. 3.  Is there online training available? 4.  What is the best way to learn STM32 programming? Thanks for your help and advice, John Allen

Hello,I've been playing with the U585 IOT dev board and really enjoying it, I've got I2C communicating with the sensors without DMA and now I would like to test out the GPDMA. However, there is a little more too this DAM controller then the DMA on the older STM32s which is what I'm used too.I've done the bellow configuration in MX and I'm then calling HAL_I2C_Mem_Read_DMA, while HAL_I2C_Mem_Read works fine HAL_I2C_Mem_Read_DMA returns HAL ok but the data value, which should be 179 from the Who_Am_I reg of the LSP22HH, remains 0. I'm guessing my issuse is with my GPDMA config since I have not used it before. uint32_t I2C_Read(uint8_t address, uint8_t reg, uint8_t *data, uint16_t len) { return HAL_I2C_Mem_Read_DMA(&I2C_Handle, address, reg, I2C_MEMADD_SIZE_8BIT, data, len); }Another question I have is what are the callback functions I need to define for TX/RX Cplt? Cheers,Michael

Hi,can someone help me ? I do not know how to use "HAL_TIM_RegisterCallback" function. My unsuccessful trial is in attachments. Can someone correct it ?  + to attach the corrected version ?I tried this example:  https://deepbluembedded.com/stm32-timer-interrupt-hal-example-timer-mode-lab/and it is working ok, but this example:https://community.st.com/t5/stm32-mcus/how-to-use-register-callbacks-in-stm32/ta-p/580499is not working - see screenshot below. .

Hello community, I am an electronics engineer at the CNRS in Montpellier (France). I am currently working with the IIS3DWB vibration sensor When I use the LFP2 low-pass filter, the action of gravity is added to the measurements. I use the following data registers:- CTRL1_XL- CTRL3_XL- CTRL8_XL This result is as unexpected as it is disconcerting.Has anyone ever encountered this type of problem? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. Hello all,I am working with the LSM6DSV16X and trying to determine whether the Sensor Fusion Low Power (SFLP) algorithm processes raw or filtered accelerometer and gyroscope data. Specifically, can I adjust filtering settings (e.g., LPF2 bandwidth) before the data is used by SFLP?What I Have ReviewedI’ve checked both the LSM6DSV16X datasheet and Application Note AN5763, but I haven’t found a clear answer. The Sensor Fusion section only says it generates "the following data based on the accelerometer and gyroscope data processing," but doesn't specify which accelerometer and gyroscope data it uses.Figure 3 in AN5763 (Accelerometer filtering chain - UI path) outlines filtering stages but does not show where SFLP takes its input.SFLP writes its output to FIFO, but it’s unclear if it takes its input before or after filtering.I understand that SFLP ODR must be ≤ sensor ODR, but does it depend on filtering settings as well? What I Need to ConfirmDoes SFLP process raw or filtered sensor data? Hi everybody! We have to implement firmware update feature via CAN interface. Our challenge involves implementing a secure and safe firmware update feature via the CAN bus, driven by regulatory requirements in the medical field. Unfortunately, the exact specifications are currently unknown.I found X-CUBE-SBSFU and it seems like a great solution. However, I can't find any reference or example where X-CUBE-SBSFU is can be or used with CAN interface. Is it possible to use the X-CUBE-SBSFU solution with CAN interface (by implementing "CAN loader" for example)?Thank you in advance!
