I am attempting to make a custom bootloader for the STM32L431 series uC.using the st videos on the subject (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkUQ3iMmiYQ&list=PLnMKNibPkDnEb1sphpdFJ3bR9dNy7S6mO&ab_channel=STMicroelectronics),  I managed to load the hex file from another project (just the data) into the flash starting at an address set by FLASH_APP_ADDR in the bootloader code. I manually verified that the flash is exactly the same as in the original project for this region with all the hex data.My question is, how do I then run this code? The go2App function crashes with hardfault and I'm pretty sure I'm missing something very obvious, but I am very new to bootloaders. My final goal is to allow the bootloader to receive this data via canbus and write it manually, but for that i'll have to understand how to save/run data from a hex file in this bootloader.

Is it possible to have a computer ask the sensor for only certain pixels when it is needed? From what is posted by your vendor Sparkfun, the data array can be 4x4 or 8x8, and repetition rate can be 1, 15, or 60Hz. Are these options set by the approximately 90 KB of firmware sent to the sensor on power up? Are details of the firmware available? Thanks

I ordered / received the P-NUCLEO-53L8A1 development kit to evaluate the VL53L8CX ToF sensor. It includes:X-NUCLEO-53L8A1 Time-of-Flight expansion board based on the VL53L8series for STM32 Nucleo• NUCLEO-F401RE development boardCould someone possibly point me to a quick-start guide? Thanks in advance!

Hello I want to add a glass to my VL53L1X ToF sensor . How should I calibrate for using with glass?I tried to calibrate with the help of the um2510 pdf (I used VL53L1X_CalibrateOffset and VL53L1X_CalibrateXtalk respectively).  After the calibration when I try to move the object away, the result distance is decreasing.  I dont get what the problem is but when I remove the glass ıt gives the correct result. Thanks for your helps.

I am using the Nucleo-F091RC board to communicate with a Motor that allows me to change it's speed with CAN.  I have the nucleo board attached to an Adafruit CAN Pal board which has a TJA1051T/3 from NXP as the CAN transceiver but I have yet to actually connect the motor to the CAN_H and CAN_L outputs from the transceiver.  I am powering the board with 3.3V generated by the nucleo board and the CAN signals attached to PA12 and PA11 and Silent pin connected to PB12 generating a low signal all the time to make sure the transceiver is in "normal" mode.  I have been able to get the nucleo board to output a CAN message every 65ms and I can see it on the CAN_TX pin being output from the nucleo board to the adafruit CAN Pal.  When I attach my scope to the output of the transceiver (CAN_H) the signal is always High...no data. Here is my CAN setup code:static void MX_CAN_Init(void){/* USER CODE BEGIN CAN_Init 0 *//* USER CODE END CAN_Init 0 *//* USER CODE BEGIN CAN_Init 1 *//

Hello,I'm programming the STM32U5A9JDK with a C project including TouchGFX.While debugging in STM32CubeIDE, I got this issue:If I pause the debug session after the TouchGFX init, I wait about one minute and the debug session crash: the board does no more communicate and the console print "Target is not responding, retrying". I have to stop the debug session and reconnect the board to restart the debugging.I only got this issue when TouchGFX init is added in my project and I checked in the register window that watchdog timers are stop in debug mode.I don't see what's going on with my TouchGFX init, can I get help on this? Thanks,Thomas

Hi,i have a question regarding the functional safety manual /safety mechanisms for the STM32F4 (and others with a similar functional safety manuals/mechanisms).A lot of SMs address transient, random faults, e.g. (refering to document UM1840):- CPU_SM_2 "Double computation in Application software"- BUS_SM_1 "Information redundancy in intra-chip data exchanges"Wouldn't these transient faults be covered when one would use two MCUs? The propability of the same transient fault happening in both MCUs should be near zero.Nevertheless does the document require two MCUs and the mentioned SMs to achieve SIL 3 rating (chapter 3.2.4 in UM1840). Why are two MCUs in 1oo2 not enough protection against transient faults?Greetings!

Hi!I am testing CAN communication using STM32F042.The settings for CAN communication on the same two boards are also set the same. One board transmits data through CAN communication once per second, and the other board receives data.If I check the CAN_RX pin (pin no. 21) of the receiving board's stm32F042 with an oscilloscope, I can see the received signal. But However, the program does not receive it.Below is the setting and the code for receiving.    Here is parameter setting.           Here is NVIC setting.       HAL_CAN_Start(&hcan);  // in main function.         Here is callback functionvoid HAL_CAN_RxCpltCallback(CAN_HandleTypeDef *phcan){ if(HAL_CAN_GetRxMessage(phcan, CAN_RX_FIFO0, &canRxHeader, &canRx0Data[0]) != HAL_OK) { } else { printf("RX : %c%c%c%c%c%c%c%c\r\n", canRx0Data[0], canRx0Data[1], canRx0Data[2], canRx0Data[3], canRx0Data[4], canRx0Data[5], can

Hi,In the device configuration tool for the STM32H755 I'm not getting all the power voltage source options, severely limiting the clock speed of the CPU. For some reason the options that are there are grayed out, and I'm missing 1 and 0. My clock configuration looks like thisAnyone have any idea how to fix this?

Hello,I have an issue with some STM32F407VG chips.Values stored in flash are wrong, e.g.Flash size at address 0x1FFF7A22 is 0xFFFF instead of 0x400.Temperature sensor calibration data for 30°C is 0xFFFF.Here after is a picture of the bad chip. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,I am using custom hardware of STM32F207ZG.I have created custom bootloader and one simple application.Bootloader start address of flash location is 0x8000000.Application start address of flash location is 0x8040000.From the ethernet i am trying to program application into flash memory using tftpd64.exe and using FTP i am writing flash memory location from 0x8040000.My question is if i program same application .elf file from STM32 Programmer,it runs well. But if i write same application .elf file using TFTPD64.exe on same start location 0x8040000,it won't run. Please suggest , if i missed something or need to do any modification.

I am referring to the above diagram and the placement angle delay is mentioned as 270. How is it? According to me it shall be 90Degrees.

I've worked out how to disable in the MEMs microphone I just want to use the blue 3.5mm input to receive/record the incoming audio. Thanks.

Hi all,This is my first project trying to configure an EMMC memory with my stm32H743XIH MCU, and unfortunatly i didnt find any exemples of projects so i can understand how this works ! I'm facing two problems on my first try project :1) Create project on cubeMX SDMMC ==> MMC 8bits Wide BusFatFS ==> Couldn't select it on cubeMX (i think only available with SD Cards) 2) I found no exemple of code to read/write from an emmc memory, all projects i found are with SD Cards.I will appreciate any help from you guys :)Thank you.

How we can write data into type A T4 NFC card using st25r3911 RFAL stack code.Currently I'm using ST25R3914 NFC Reader IC interfaced over SPI with renesas microcontroller. For NFC card pairing can I read and write data from NFC card?

Hi,I am using the ST25R3916B on a custom PCB and am having some field failures where it seem that the device is failing to respond on SPI to my microcontroller.  When I get the board back in house I can see that my first SPI command to read the ID register is not working.  Rebooting will sometimes allow me to properly read the ID, but it seems that once the issue starts eventually the chip will get itself into a state where it stops responding altogether.  I have scoped out my SPI signals and everything looks good coming out of my uC, but I then get nothing on MISO. The rest of the board works fine and all power rails look fine so I am a bit confused on what to try next as it seems like the chip is just dying.  I currently have about 42 of these boards in the field and have seen ~10% fail with this failure mode and need to be replaced.  Another data point - This is the second version of the product.  The previous one used a mix of 3911Bs and 3915s and

HiI have develop a custom board wit stm32F799 cpu, there is External Quad flash model MT25QL128ABB1ESE 128Mbit 16Mbyte.My problem thar the falsh erase only half size, the address in memory map shall be 0x90000000 to 0x90FFFFFF but the erase work until 0x907FFFFF.I first time wen the flash was clean fro the factory I wrote data in full address range with succes, but in successive tentative of format end write only first hal size is initialize, the address after 0x90800000 remain writed with old data. This is the simple program for test Flash memory:#include "main.h"#include "quadspi.h"#include "gpio.h"#include <string.h> HAL_Init();/* USER CODE BEGIN Init *//* USER CODE END Init *//* Configure the system clock */SystemClock_Config();/* USER CODE BEGIN SysInit *//* USER CODE END SysInit *//* Initialize all configured peripherals */MX_GPIO_Init();MX_QUADSPI_Init();/* USER CODE BEGIN 2 */uint8_t buffer_test[MEMORY_SECTOR_SIZE];uint32_t var = 0;if (QSPI_ResetChip() != HAL_OK)

For some reason HAL_SPI_STATE remains busy forever after executing HAL_SPI_Receive_DMA. This happen for the SPI slave of SPI #2 of the STM32H745XI board. The problem goes away when I change the SPI mode from slave to master, but that's not a proper workaround. I want to have a half-duplex communication between a master and a slave SPI. So I need a slave that can receive data via DMA!/* Initialize all configured peripherals */ MX_GPIO_Init(); MX_DMA_Init(); MX_FMC_Init(); MX_LTDC_Init(); MX_CRC_Init(); MX_DMA2D_Init(); MX_SPI2_Init(); MX_SPI4_Init(); MX_QUADSPI_Init(); MX_TouchGFX_Init(); /* USER CODE BEGIN 2 */ /* USER CODE END 2 */ /* Infinite loop */ /* USER CODE BEGIN WHILE */ while (1) { /* USER CODE END WHILE */ MX_TouchGFX_Process(); /* USER CODE BEGIN 3 */ HAL_SPI_Receive_DMA(&hspi2, RX_Buffer, sizeof(RX_Buffer)); while(HAL_SPI_GetState(&hspi2)!= HAL_SPI_STATE_READY){} //Gets stuck here forever!!!! transfer_complete=0; HAL_SPI_Trans

In cubeMX, Il gave a user name 'led1_rouge' to PI1.When I go to Keil microvision, intellisense gives me two names : led1_rouge_pin led1rouge_gpio_portWhat is the difference between them ?Jean

I'm using SPC58EC80 (SPC58EC DISP). I have coded the MCU for standby mode. It's working well but I have program it like wheather the MCU is booting from power ON or from standby wakeup. I have four wakeup intterupts and I want to know which wakeup interrupt is triggered the MCU to wakeup.#include "components.h"#include "wkpu_lld_cfg.h"   void int28_irq_cb(WKPUDriver *wkpup){(void)wkpup;/* Wait the SIUL2 is ready afterthe exit from the SPOP0 mode.*/while (MC_ME.PS0.B.S_SIUL == 0U){;} pal_lld_clearpad(PORT_F, PF_LED3);} /* * Application entry point. */int main(void){ uint8_t i; /* Initialization of all the imported components in the order specified inthe application wizard. The function is generated automatically.*/componentsInit(); /* Switch-off all LED's.*/pal_lld_setpad(PORT_F, PF_LED1);pal_lld_setpad(PORT_F, PF_LED2);pal_lld_setpad(PORT_F, PF_LED3); /* Enable Interrupts */irqIsrEnable(); /* Configure WKPU.*/wkpu_lld_start(&a

I'm trying to use a VL53L4CD with a micro.  BTW the platform.c file is wrong.  It says byte swapping is required for big-endian processors.  In reality byte swapping is required for LITTLE=endian processors.  Got past that and a number of other mistakes on my part.  I can read the 16 bit ID (10F-110).  But I can't init the device.  Calls to the init function always return 255.  I have stepped through it and everything looks good until it checks for ready, where it times out waiting.  The ready function reads two bytes, shifting bit 4 of the first one down to bit 0 and inverting it (through a rather convoluted process).  It than compares that to bit 0 of another byte.  The first byte is 0x11, which results in a 0 after the manipulation.  The second byte is a 1, so it always fails.  Since the data sheet doesn't document any of this, I can't move past that.BTW, after the program gets to this point and fails, accessing the ID

Hi, I'm trying to debug a FreeRTOS program and coming from a Keil + STM32CubeMX world, I'm having trouble setting up any of the eclipse based IDES to use the FreeRTOS thread aware debugging tools. So far, I've tried a combination of using the StateViewer, switching to J-Link, and installing the NXP plugin but nothing seems to work. The closest I've got is by following this thread here: https://community.st.com/s/question/0D50X0000BVp8RtSQJ/thread-awareness-debugging-in-freertos-stm32cubeide-110-has-a-bug-for-using-rtos-freertos-on-stlinkopenocdbut when I try to debug I'm running into the following error: FreeRTOS: uxTopUsedPriority is not defined, consult the OpenOCD manual for a work-aroundI've looked at the workaroun which seems to be based here: https://mcuoneclipse.com/2016/04/09/freertos-thread-debugging-with-eclipse-and-openocd/https://github.com/arduino/OpenOCD/blob/master/contrib/rtos-helpers/FreeRTOS-openocd.cbut I'm not exactly sure how I implement this to into my program. I'

I'm trying to compute the ECDH shared secret by multiplying local private key and other party public key using HAL_PKA_ECCMul. For some reason it is not working. I'm using curve secp256r1. But I'm able to use HAL_PKA_ECCMul to generate public key by multiplying a private key with the secp256r1 generator x and y.

As described.I am using the B-U585I-IOT02A Discovery development kit. Just testing basic SPI operation and trying to use all three SPI lines.Using basic setup with STM Cube ID I can send data using HAL_SPITransmit over SPI1 and SPI2. Trying to do the same on SPI3 returns an error. I also do not see any signals when probing SCK and MOSI on SPI3 when using an oscilloscope.Am I missing something here? Or is there maybe a deeper issue? Test code (SPI3 call returns an error, due to lack of EOT flag resulting in a timeout: Setup code (seems to be the same for each SPI instance...) generated by STMCube:   /** * @brief SPI MSP Initialization * This function configures the hardware resources used in this example * hspi: SPI handle pointer * @retval None */ void HAL_SPI_MspInit(SPI_HandleTypeDef* hspi) { GPIO_InitTypeDef GPIO_InitStruct = {0}; RCC_PeriphCLKInitTypeDef PeriphClkInit = {0}; if(hspi->Instance==SPI1) { /* USER CODE BEGIN SPI1_MspInit 0 */ /* U

Hello All.I wrote a  simple code, which is supposed to start on reset address, check the availability of an application on the higher  application address and jump to it. I am using IAR9.32. The code works if loaded using STLINK but gets into hard fault if reset using watchdog timer initiated in the main application (for example from console command "reboot").1. Did somebody encounter this?2. Is the source code of the "iar_low_level_init" available? I could not find it in the IAR folder.I apologize for a kind of an off-topic because it might be about IAR rather than STM32.Aleks.
