Posted on April 11, 2018 at 22:27 Hi there! - After looking around for quite a while, I'm still not exactly sure how to calibrate the RTC on my STM32L011G4 board. - For our project, we are using an external LSE crystal (768 kHz) for the RTC. - Do I need to use the RTC_SmoothCalib method (example for other MCU types), or is there another way to adjust the RTC accuracy? I have an accurate 1s clock source from a GPS module hooked up and counting rising edges with EXTI interrupt... That works nicely. But how could the number of LSE clock ticks happening between the external 1s pulses be counted to adjust the calibration registers? (RTC_CALR)There are only 2 timers, and no 32-bit one on the STM32L.. - Any help / hints would be appreciated. I'm simply overwhelmed by all the cryptic options described in the docs... #rtc #rtc-calibration #lse #calibration #stm32l011g4 #stm32l0x1 Note: this post was migrated and contained many threaded conversations, some content may be missing.

Posted on January 09, 2018 at 17:42I am trying to change the settings on the STM32 ST-Link Utility, jhowever, the software seems to be freezing. I also installed it on another computer and it still doesn't seem to work. The problem is shown in the attached screen shot. Posted on April 10, 2018 at 15:53Hi all, I am looking at the ST25R3911B-DISCO board and I want to see what the inductance is of the coil they have on the eval kit. I can't seem to find the formulas for this specific application where you have 2 coils shorted to GND as it is done on the DISCO board.Also, I would like to understand why ST, on the DISCO board, have 2 coils shorted to GND rather than just 1 coil connected between RFO1 and RFO2?On the eval kit the distance from coil to circuitry is approximately 10mm but what would the general safe distance be from the coil. I know 'more is better' but I am a bit crammed for space in my design.Any insights to the above is greatly appreciated

Posted on October 07, 2016 at 08:39I'm using the STM32F103. Setting the controller to __HAL_AFIO_REMAP_SWJ_NOJTAG on startup. Which means I want to use only the SW pins and the port pins PA15, PB3 and PB4 should be normal IO pins. I observed the following problem: Unfortunately the related bits in AFIO->MAPR are write only. Reading these three bits is undefined. In fact, depending on the settings of AFIO->MAPR I observed that a 0x4 is read back if a 0x2 was written. So far it is ok as we can't rely on the read bits. Unfortunately the code in stm32f1xx_hal_gpio_ex.h relies on these read back bits of SWJ_CFG. This is the case in all of the macros which uses MODIFY_REG(AFIO->MAPR... These macros reads back AFIO_MAPR. When reading back AFIO_MAPR you also read back the undefined bits of SWJ_CFG. And when writing back to AFIO_MAPR, you write a different (or wrong) value into SWJ_CFG.

Posted on April 13, 2018 at 09:23Goodmorning    I'm a newcomer to the microcontrollers of the ST. Until now I have only done some small project with the STM32 family.In these days I'm starting a new project, a control board for a high power outdoor lighthouse, and since the requirements are similar to those automotive (temperature and vibration) I was taking a look at the SPC5 family.Since I'm relatively a beginner, I wanted to ask what are the advantages (and disadvantages) of using the SPC5 family instead of the STM32, and whether the SPC5 family is right for my application or if it's better to use the STM32.Someone can help me choose between SPC5 and STM32.Thanks in advanceFederico.

Posted on December 20, 2017 at 13:04Hi, everyone.I2C peripheral has been initialized with STM32CubeMX according to the picture bellow:I am using I2C1, pins B9 (data) and B8 (clock) in STM32F4 - Discovery. The devices address is 0x60 (Says the datasheet). I am using pull-up (8 KOhm) and conflict protection resistors (1.2 KOhm).I can neither read nor write to the slave device. Ive tried the two following ways:1)uint8_t outputData = 0;HAL_I2C_Mem_Read(&hi2c1, 0x60, 0x0A, I2C_MEMADD_SIZE_8BIT, &outputData, 1, HAL_MAX_DELAY); 2)uint8_t outputData = 0; HAL_StatusTypeDef returnValue = 0; returnValue = HAL_I2C_Master_Transmit(&hi2c1, 0x60, (uint8_t*)0x0A, 1, HAL_MAX_DELAY); if(returnValue != HAL_OK) return returnValue; returnValue = HAL_I2C_Master_Receive(&hi2c1, 0x60, &outputData, 1, HAL_MAX_DELAY);These functions always falls into the following if block:/* Send Slave Address and Memory Address */ if(I2C_RequestMemoryRead(hi2c, DevAd

Posted on December 22, 2016 at 18:08Recently I wasted a frustrating few days finding out why my code was unstable. Turned out to be what I believe is a bug in HAL_I2C_Master_Transmit() so I thought I should post here in case it catches anyone else out. The relevant bit of code.....while(hi2c->XferSize > 0U) {    /* Wait until TXE flag is set */    if(I2C_WaitOnTXEFlagUntilTimeout(hi2c, Timeout, tickstart) != HAL_OK)    {       if(hi2c->ErrorCode == HAL_I2C_ERROR_AF)       {          /* Generate Stop */          hi2c->Instance->CR1 |= I2C_CR1_STOP;          return HAL_ERROR;       }       else       {       &nbsp

Posted on March 27, 2018 at 16:21Hi there folks!I just wanted to know if it is possible to use the STM32F429I-DISC1 to test different external displays. The appropriate pins are provided via P1 and P2 but as far as I have understood the schematics the integrated display is allways connected with the MCU and there is no chance to disconnect that display or power it off.I hope I am wrong best regardsBenjamin#stm32f429i-disc1 #external-display #lcd

Posted on April 12, 2018 at 11:26Hi guys.I'm working on a STM32L433RCTP based project with STM32CubeMX.It's probably not the best idea to use CubeMX as a reference, if you have the datasheet / ref manual....It took some hours for me to figure out, why there are some pins not responding to what I've done with them. Here is the reason: I located the pins by looking at the CubeMX drawing. But in STM32CubeMX there are some pins wrong.I took two screenshots. On the right side, there is a screenshot from the datasheet and on the left side you can see a screenshot from CubeMX. The CubeMX screenshot is overlayed by the pin names, extracted from the datasheet screener. So you can compare the pins in CubeMX with the pins in the datasheet.As you can see, the pins in the red boxes doesn't match with the ones from the datasheet.However, the generated code and the pin functionality seems to be working.I wonder if this is an issue for other controllers, too.#pin-mapping #stm32cubemx-4.25.0

Posted on March 26, 2018 at 12:53Hi, i have implemented the example TIM_OCToggle from stm32f40xx to stm32f103xx, both work fine.I want a event in the moment change state output pin of the channels OC, as occurs in the events:HAL_TIM_PeriodElapsedCallback   or   HAL_TIM_PWM_PulseFinishedCallbackint main(void){ HAL_Init(); SystemClock_Config(); InitConfigTIM2_OC(); while (1) { }}static void InitConfigTIM2_OC(void){ TIM_ClockConfigTypeDef sClockSourceConfig; TIM_MasterConfigTypeDef sMasterConfig; TIM_OC_InitTypeDef sConfigOC; uint32_t uhPrescalerValue = 0; uhPrescalerValue = (uint32_t)(SystemCoreClock / 1000000) - 1;hTIM2.Instance = TIM2; //hTIM2.Init.Prescaler = 2000-1; hTIM2.Init.Prescaler = uhPrescalerValue; hTIM2.Init.CounterMode = TIM_COUNTERMODE_UP; hTIM2.Init.Period = 50; hTIM2.Init.ClockDivision = TIM_CLOCKDIVISION_DIV1; hTIM2.Init.AutoReloadPreload = TIM_AUTORELOAD_PRELOAD_DISABLE; HAL_TIM_Base_Init(&hTIM2); HAL_TIM_OC_Init(&hTIM2);sConfigOC.OCMode

Posted on April 09, 2018 at 08:27Hi every body,Really I need your help in order to see if there are any extra change in the schematic side.Right now I use the same board used for STM32F105 to my new STM32F411.What I did:  - I just change the old micro-controller 'F105' with the new one 'F411'.  - Migrate all the SW application to the new library of 'F411'.  - Upload the new FW to 'F411'.Results: - Face not stable result on the UART port 'terminal'. - My application doesn't work properly.  => is it really accepted to use the same board used for STM32F105 to the new one STM32F411 (chips have an identical pinout ) ?               => if yes, there is any extra change I have to do it it on the board ( Quartz, . . . ).#migration #stm32f411-stm32f105 #stm32f105-board-to-stm32f411-board

Posted on April 10, 2018 at 09:18I am designing a custom keyboard with an LCD display that displays custom messages using STM32F103. I have made the USB HID to work with the code generated from CubeMX. But I am unable to figure out how to send data from computer to the keyboard. As per my understanding, HID protocol is a keyboard to the computer. Any hint on this is highly appreciated.P.S. I am planning to use pyusb (python) to send data from computer to keyboard.#usb-hid #usb_device #usb-device

Posted on April 10, 2018 at 14:55Hi!I want to use an external clock signal for timing. This clock signal is ~130 kHz. I want to count N pulses with a timer and I want an IRQ after N pulses. For this purpose I'd like to use TIM3 in external counter mode 1. The input pin is PC7 which is TIM3_CH2 in alternate function 2. I'm using the LL driver. So far I came up with this but it's not working no matter what value I write in to the ARR register. This code is based on several examples in CUBE_FW_L4 and other web sources. I know that there are lots of code out there but it seems that people are using different drivers like standard, HAL etc. I call timing_init_timing() function to configure the pins, timer etc. The function timing_set_ARR is used from a command terminal and I get zero calling timing_get_counter() function and the timcnt readout is always 1.I already had my laps on reference manual but I really not get the concept as the driver is using confusing names which I couldn't found

Posted on April 11, 2018 at 06:49I am using STM32L072 on my custom board. I connected DP DM pins on USB connector directly to the DP DM pins on the MCU. I was hoping it gives me a DEBUG UART but it didn't work that way. What could be the problem?

Posted on September 16, 2017 at 03:06There might be a bug in CubeMx 4.22.1.Initialization of PLLM division factor for PLL is not included in automatically generated SystemClock_Config function, that might result in incorrect clock settings. Adding initialization of PLLM manually seems to fix the problems.STM32L4 Nucleo, STM32L4 Cube 1.9.0.

Posted on April 10, 2018 at 14:27 Hello, I am having a problem with RX interrupt. Everytime I callLL_USART_TransmitData8() it triggers RXNE flag. I enabled only RXNE , ERROR and disabled TXE. Also, If I send bytes to UART does not trigger RXNE interrupt. I am running the firmware with freeRTOS, so maybe is a priority problem? UART priority is 6 = configLIBRARY_MAX_SYSCALL_INTERRUPT_PRIORIT(5) + 1. void Configure_Modem_USART(void) { /* Enable the peripheral clock of GPIO Port */ MODEM_USARTx_GPIO_CLK_ENABLE(); /* Configure Tx Pin as : Alternate function, High Speed, Push pull, Pull up */ LL_GPIO_SetPinMode(MODEM_USARTx_TX_GPIO_PORT, MODEM_USARTx_TX_PIN, LL_GPIO_MODE_ALTERNATE); MODEM_USARTx_SET_TX_GPIO_AF(); LL_GPIO_SetPinSpeed(MODEM_USARTx_TX_GPIO_PORT, MODEM_USARTx_TX_PIN, LL_GPIO_SPEED_FREQ_HIGH); LL_GPIO_SetPinOutputType(MODEM_USARTx_TX_GPIO_PORT, MODEM_USARTx_TX_PIN, LL_GPIO_OUTPUT_PUSHPULL); LL_GPIO_SetPinPull(MODEM_USARTx_TX_GPIO_PORT, MODEM_USARTx_TX_PIN, LL_GPI

Posted on March 26, 2018 at 16:28Hi!I'm curently using the B-L072Z-LRWAN1 (STM32L072 and LoRa board) with the STM32CubeExpansion_LRWAN_V1.1.4, and i'm trying to reduce the current consumption using this board.I'm currently running into a high current draw from the power supply (when i'm forcing the board to get into stop mode at the first line possible in the main, i still draw over 3mA from the power supply)I've tried to reduce the leakage from various ways (removed D2, no LED active, removed R19 to remove the link between battery and ST-link)However i'm still unable to guess where does the extra mA are going...At the start of my main, i'm using the insctruction HAL_PWR_EnterSLEEPMode(PWR_MAINREGULATOR_ON, PWR_SLEEPENTRY_WFI) (i've tried with stop and standby aswell, same current draw) and getting about 3.4mA at all time...During normal use, my current usage is about 25mA when transmitting and 13mA when receiving, not dropping below the 13mA (so I guess I'm not really entering sleep

Posted on December 02, 2017 at 16:56I tried to use the FAT file system with a SD card and the SDIO protocol, but with the v1.18.00 of stm32Cube for F4 MCU's doesn't work correctly, I discovered the next issues.1.-  Inside of the FATFS configuration if the DMA tamplate is enable this module doesn't work2.-   BSP_SD_Init() isn't called nowhere endded I need to call manually after  MX_FATFS_Init().3.- DMA template is mandatory if FreeRTOS is enable.Now, this issues didn't watch in the version v1.17.00 of stm32Cube for F4. The same programe is funcional in this version but not in the v1.18.00. Any idea regarding this topic? Is necessary to enable the DMA module to work with the protocol SDIO ?

Posted on April 08, 2018 at 08:261) CTRL_REG3 (22h)Can I set both I1_IA1 and I1_IA2? 2) What is I1_321DA? 3) Our project uses two threshold, one for stronger force (e.g. collision), the other for weaker force (e.g. impact). I assume I should set INT1_THS and IT2_THS to the high/low threshold. But should I use both event on INT1 or separately e.g. INT1 for high event and INT2 for low event? 4) If INT1_THS is set to high threshold and INT2_THS is set to low threshold. The duration is set to same. So the trigger will satisfy INT2_THS firstly then IT1_THS. In this case, will the lis3x device generate two interrupt with IA1 first and IA2 second?
