Hi all, I want to do some tests to simulate "low coverage" conditions How could I quickly make the equipment transmit at less power? For example in the EU868 region limit to 10dBm instead of the 14dBm that is allowed, or in US915 to 20dBmn instead of the 22dBmBest Regards, Sergio

This feels like a dumb question but I can't find the answer through Google and I've spent some time looking.I'm giving a high level presentation tomorrow and in the first slide I'm describing the difference between ST MPUs and MCUs. For the life of me I can't find what the "U" stands for, however...Can anyone help me?

I'm currently having an issue with a project that works perfectly when compiled through stm32CubeIDE vs when I go to Run target through the TouchGFX Designer.I haven't altered any of the standard settings in either piece of software and both will compile without error onto my discovery board. The specific issue is I have a freertos task that reads temperature data off of the I2C and then sends this data through the queue to be populated on one of my touchgfx views. When I compile through the designed this value does not update, when compiled in IDE this feature works as intended. Up until recently this feature worked when compiled on either piece of software, I'm still going back through my recent changes to figure out where this issue originated. Is there a significant difference in the files each use to compile? Figured out what is causing the issue. Whenever I add a widget to my custom container it breaks the temp update function when compiling with the designer. If I go back and del

Hi! I have been trying for a while now to get the STM32L432KC to transmit on a CAN bus but to no avail. I have been using a MCP2551 as tranciver and i know it works since i have gotten it to work with a STM32L476 board. The interesting part is that when i try and measure the output on P12 (D2/CAN1_TX this is on the MCU) with an oscilloscope all i get is a high signal and no message out (Have tried this with the MCP2551 connected and disconnected same result). I have run the same code (almost same) on a STM32L476 with a MCP2551 and it works. I have no idea what the problem could be. Is it something in my code that does not work? I'm using the stm32Cube IDE auto code generation. Most of the code i have written is between lines 78 - 79.Thanks in advance!/* USER CODE BEGIN Header */ /** ****************************************************************************** * @file : main.c * @brief : Main program body *****************************************************************************

Dear all, Sorry if my english is not clear, and let me know if something is not clear.I need help...Using  an STM32L4R9i Eval and the following "modules" HW and SW : Round TFT (MB1314), touchGFX, FMC (External SRAM), DSI/MIPI (LTDC), DMA2D.I'm struggling since few days to a display issue.OK : Using the internal SRAM and all the related configuration for previous modules everything is working fine.NOK : Changing the previous configuration but using the external SRAM, available on the evaluation board (through the FMC), my picture, in that case is not correctly displayed. But I can see that the external SRAM is correctly fill, through the debugger.I guess that it should come from a synchronization between the FMC, DMA2D and the LTDC... but this is a completely new topic for me, and I'm not an expert.Does someone can help me, to know in which direction I should look for ?Let me know if you need more details, code or Thank you in advance for your help.

I've got a lot of help from people on this forum getting up to speed with STM32 controllers and the STM32 HAL libraries. Coming from the C# world, I've been kind of stubborn about trying to maintain a moderately object oriented architecture. That's been a really painful learning experience and I've got a long way to go but I've finally gotten to the point where I have something working well enough to move forward with. As an example, here's how I've combined my UARTs class with the HAL libraries and I'd value any input from this forum on how to improve it.For background, there are 2 devices right now that need a UART, GPS1 and CTD1. Eventually, I know there will be 8 UART devices and probably more in the future. I'm trying to implement a non-blocking architecture so I use the HAL_UART_Receive_IT, ...Transmit_IT, ...Receive_DMA and ...Transmit_DMA functions. There's a class for each of the devices. All that happens in those classes is they call their respective initGPS1() or initCTD1()

For example, I use 8 bit data transfer type. There are 3 types for the parity bit in totalNo parityEven parityOdd parity----------------------Even parityI'll make an assumption that Even parity looks like this:10011100The first 1 from the left is the parity bit.If the parity bit is enabled in the settings, but it does not need to be set, because the number of transmitted bits is even, should it look like this?00111100----------------------Odd parityFor Odd parity looks like this?10001100The first 1 from the left is the parity bit.If the parity bit is enabled in the settings, but it does not need to be set, because the number of transmitted bits is odd, should it look like this?00011100---------------------No parityIf No parity is enabled in the settings, is the parity bit excluded from data transmission? At first 8 bits were transmitted, but when I turn off the parity bit, will 7 bits be transmitted?Or will 8 bits be transmitted, but instead of a parity bit there will be zero?If so, is o

Hello,I purchased SPC560P50L3CEFAR from Mouser and I'm able to enable the censorship as the reference manual suggests.I'm modifying NVSCI0 and NVSCI1 registers with the value 0x55AABABA and the UDE cannot connect unless the correct password is provided. Everything's good so far.Currently there's no stock in Mouser/Digikey so I could only find more in China so I purchased some SPC560P50L3 from Aliexpress. The chip works well, I'm using it for FlexRay development and everything works. However I cannot enable the censorship on those devices that I purchased from China. Even though I'm modifying the NVSCI registers, the UDE is still able to connect and debug the MCU with an incorrect password or even no password at all.The MCU I purchased from China reads "SPC560P50L3 VG438395 992G0 VG". Might this be a clone, or from a different batch or something, or am I doing something wrong?I'm using the example code provided by NXP below. Thanks, int main(void) { HW_init(); GPIO_init(); /* Turn LE

I want to use Nucleo-G431RB and X-Nucleo-IHM08M1 3Sh to control a outer rotor BLDC with FOC. Now I am confusing how to set jumpers. In the introduction of Motor Profile:However, in the Quick Start Guide and User Manual of X-Nucleo-IHM08M1 3Sh ,the requirements are like this:On the X-NUCLEO-IHM08M1 expansion board, set jumpers: J9 open,JP3 closed. For 6-step control (X-CUBE-SPN8 FW), set jumpers: JP1 and JP2 open, J5&J6on the 1-Sh side. Keep capacitor C5 mounted; in case of poor motor currentregulation during startup, reduce its value. For FOC control (STSW-STM32100 FW), set jumpers: JP1 and JP2 closed,J5&J6 on the 3-Sh side. Remove capacitors C3, C5 and C7.Which one should I follow?Thank you very much!

I have the board, I have downloaded all of the data and guides that I can find but there is no mention of AC IN voltage range. I would like to drive a small 400V induction motor. 400VACrms would mean 566V peak across the capacitor at no load.I note that the main DC bus capacitor is rated for 450V which would be the peak voltage of 318VACrms input. I can replace the 330uF 450V capacitor with a 270uF 600V capacitor but I am unsure of the voltage rating of the other components and I cannot find a complete schematic.

I use the L9963E GUI PC tools to configure/communicate with the ST µc SPC574S64E3, it works fine. I know want to learn more about the communication between the µC and the stack monitor component. Thanks in advance

Hello,I am using STM32WLE5CC for my project of Lorawan FUOTA Project. I wanted to do FUOTA task with my application, but I think, there would be issue of size. According to FUOTA document, Firmware max size is 84kB, and When I compile only Generated Lorawan Code (on application code added), its size is around 65kB in Optimize level 1. So only 19kB space is available for other code, which is very les for a product to develop, again Lorawan Multicast and Timing Module is not enabled in this firmware, which also consumes memory.I need at least 35kB for my custom application code. So, how could I achieve FUOTA, in my application, is there any way to reduce Lorawan stack size or any other Lorawan Library for lowering Memory footprint.Thank You

Hello,If the NFC operates at 13.56MHz and data rate is 100–420 kbps.How fast a data of 10kB can be transferred with a 100kbps speed.?Is it (10kB * 8/100k) + (10kB * 8/100k) * (overhead) ?Regards,Vmere

In many aplications i am using simple template, where interrupt routines (for example UART receive) raise flags (volatile variables) and main() function polling these flags and processing these events (for example parsing incoming UART charaters). I would like to put MCU to sleep when there is nothing to do - when all flags are cleared. But i can not simply write:if(!flag1 && !flag2 ...){ go_to_sleep(); }because of potential race condition. Flag can be set during if statement evaluation and there is risk, that MCU will go sleep with raised some flag. Is there any mechanism how to sleep STM8S (and possibly STM8L) safe - only if flags are cleared ?just for interest: STM32 handles that problem by calling "send event" instruction (at place where flag is raised), which prevents falling asleep.AVR have separated bit for "sleep enable" and this bit can be cleared in IRQ routine, where flag is raised and also prevent MCU from going to sleep mode. How to do that with STM8 ?

I try to specify relative paths without a lot of ../../.. spaghetti, but every time I shoot into the correct directory, I get an error like a /Debug/ was added to my path?I moved all my code files, now I want to make include paths right, but it's either using workspace folder, or... IDK. It accepts absolute paths, but I don't accept absolute paths. My whole point is to make the simplest possible folder structure for both STM32CubeIDE and other tools.I don't get it. My project root (a directory where the .project file is located) is ROOT. I'd think when I have to include directory ROOT/DIR all I have to do is to specify "DIR" as include path. Or "./DIR". But nothing works. STM32CubeIDE insists on adding /Debug/ to my paths. I tried adding "../" 1, 2, 3, 4 times. If I add too many "../" then it resolves the directory correctly as incorrect - so the path ending is correct, as specified, just the root is wrong. However, when my "root" is just ".", then it adds "/Debug/" to it and treat is a

I've been fighting this problem for some time. I have a simple custom made board based on STM32G05. I'm utilizing 2 UARTs. One of them I use just for serial port debug. Takes keyboard input (but don't use it) and print out data for debugging. The other one connects to a different MCPU. An ESP32, specifically ESP32-CAM.As the ESP32-CAM boots, it sends some diagnostics to the serial port.My STM32 does not see this data. I can use a USB serial port (with putty) and communicate to both STM32 and ESP32 independently. However, connecting the ESP32 TX pin to STM32 RX pin does not give me any data at all.I can "tap into" the ESP32 TX pin and connect this to a USB serial port RX pin and see the data while it boots, but the STM32 simply does not see it. I've look at the data on the scope, and logic levels are correct. My code is straight forward#include "main.h"   extern UART_HandleTypeDef huart1; extern UART_HandleTypeDef huart2;   uint8_t rx[6]; uint8_t rx2[6];   void HAL_U

Hi,I'm trying to learn DMA in depth, but I'm confused at some points. It's about Bus Matrix and Arbitration mechanism. In STM32F446RE, there are 2 DMA controller and each one has 1 peripheral bus and 1 memory bus. Question is not about memory bus of DMA. I know if CPU and DMA tries to reach memory on same bus at same time, there is some procedure to manage arbitration on Bus Matrix. On the below Bus Matrix Block Diagram, it seems clear. But if DMA2 reaches any APB1 peripherals directly using DMA peripheral Bus, and same time CPU is using APB1 bus to do another work on AHB Peripheral Bus 1, what happens? The CPU and DMA may even want to access the same peripheral using this way but not necessarily. Even if DMA don't have to use AHB Peripheral Bus 1, both Masters will eventually use the same bus, APB1. As i understood, there is not any arbitration mechanism because there are not overlaps on Bus Matrix. In this situation, can CPU and DMA work at same time? Is there any arbitration mehanis

Hi to everyone,I have 2 batches of a board (let's call NEW and OLD version) where internal temperature sensor of STM32H743AII6  (connected to ADC3 channel18) is used. Differences between batches are related with I/O pins (used MCO1 instead of MCO2 and 2 more I/O moved to other pins). Devices connected to changed tracks works properly. Nothing changed in power supply tracks routing or power supply stage (same dc/dc, in the same position..) . In boards produced in OLD batch I can read temperature properly, usual value is around 50-60°C due to enclosure and additional devices on board. On NEW batch the temperature value is around 260-270°C. ADC initialization and management is the same in both firmwares. Using the NEW firmware on OLD boards the measured temperature is right. In NEW boards (with wrong temperature measurement) the reference voltage Vref_Int (ADC3 channel 19) is 1,21V. I can't understand what's wrong, it seems to be something in the hardware/silicon but I have no idea.

I was not able to find the answer to this in the QA/Knowledge Base. I understand ST documentation says not to mess with the STM32-F103xx as it comes pre-programmed from the factory. However I have a board whose serial communications between the host PC are broken, but appears to be otherwise functioning. Thus I can neither communicate with nor re-flash the board over the serial interface (little more than a brick).I posted an earlier question under BLEMesh (possibly the wrong posted area) entitled "My (new) BlueNRG-LP STEVAL-IBD011V2 evaluation board is no longer recognized by MS-Windows Device manager when I plug into the USB port. How can I recover this functionality?" However this is a different question (albeit tangentially related), so I wanted to keep the questions separate. My thinking is if I can rewrite serial bridge I/O firmware loaded at the factory, perhaps I can recover the board serial communications with the host PC.
