stm32CubeMX not listing Documents contents on Mac Tahoe

SloBlo

I recently switched to Mac Tahoe 26.1 and it seems since then stm32CubeMX 6.15 is not listing the contents of my Documents folder anymore. It doesn't seem like a rights management issue since

  • there were no changes to the Documents rights
  • they are identical to sibling folders which CubeMX would properly enumerate

And yes, the folder does have contents and is not empty as shown in the screenshot from the file open dialog attached.

Anyone experiencing similar issues? How to come around that?

Best,

Oliver

Tahoe isn't listed as a supported OS. Might have to wait.

With the shift to VS Code, it's not clear how long it will take to support newer OS versions.

I don't agree that is cutting it. Other user folders, such as Music, the dialog is enumerating just fine, and it has got identical rights settings. There must be something else going on.

In addition, the issue doesn't seem to appear widespread in the forum. I deem that would be different if there is a general core issue using CubeMX on Tahoe.

Hello @SloBlo

As mentioned by @TDK Mac Tahoe 26.1 is not listed as a supported operating system for STM32CubeMX 6.15.0. This means that the application has  not been tested or optimized for compatibility with this version of macOS. As a result, certain features such as file system access may not function as expected.

Hi Ghofrane,

as an ST employee, you may provide an indication until when we can expect official support?

Thx in advance,

Oliver

Hi,

thank you for the clarification.

However, this leaves new Mac users in a difficult position. If someone buys a new Mac today, it comes with macOS 26 (Tahoe), which is currently not supported by STM32 development tools.

Does this mean we simply should not use STM32CubeMX / STM32CubeIDE on new Macs until Tahoe is officially supported?
What is the official STM position on this situation?

Thanks,
Milan

Hello @msedlak @SloBlo

The STM32CubeMX 6.16.0 is now available on the official website and it is supported on macOS 26 (Tahoe)

Great, thank you Ghofrane.

Now that I moved to CubeMX 6.16 and the support question is sorted, the issue is still persistent. Can we try to dig the original issue described above, now? As you can see in the screenshot, the Documents folder is not enumerated.

Thank you,

Oliver

Hi,

I have tried the STM32CubeIDE 2.0.0 and there is still a bug - highlighting multiple lines in the IDE is not working - for example, if you wanna select function from top to bottom, you see only the last line highlighted.. (Its just highlighting, if you do ctrl+c, you will copy all selected lines, they are just not highlighted.. )

This bug is related to the Eclipse Core and the latest macOS update to Tahoe 26.1.
(Note: in version 26.0 it was still working.)
https://github.com/eclipse-platform/eclipse.platform/issues/2244
There is also a solution available, and for Eclipse itself the issue has already been fixed.
Since the bug is in the core of Eclipse, it cannot be resolved through any settings - new release of the IDE is required.

BR.

Hello @msedlak

At present, STM32CubeIDE 2.0.0 is built on Eclipse Platform version 4.33.0.v20240903-0618

The migration to a newer Eclipse version within STM32CubeIDE is planned for next year.
