stm32u5 OpenOCD and stlink-server issues on macOS

I am trying to connect to the b-u585i-iot02a on macOS 15.3.1 using OpenOCD without success. The same board, cables and configuration scripts with the same version of OpenOCD (0.12.0+dev-01888-ga168c6341) works on both Windows 11 and Ubuntu 24.04. ST-Link server also does not work.

OpenOCD and included with STM32CubeIDE 1.18 also seem to run into the same issue so this does not seem to be specific to the official release.

The board has been updated to the latest stlink firmware (v3j16m7).

I have attached the OpenOCD -d3 log.

It might be helpful to note that I have no issues with a Nucleo-F411 board on the same macOS machine.

I would appreciate any help or advice anyone can provide.

Can you give the workaround mentioned in this FAQ a try? Also, please take a look at this thread and confirm if it's the same issue.

Hi,

Thanks for the response and your help. The FAQ workaround using a USB hub worked for me (old Apple USB-C to HDMI/USB-A/USB-C-PD).

I have ordered the Anker 332 and will test that too. Once I have that I will test this solution on a Nucleo-H563 with which I had the same problem.

Thanks again for this response and the suggestion. Huge help and relief :)
