(SOLVED) Unable to create new project in CubeIDE(1.7.0) on mac os 11.5

UPDATE: I just reinstalled JRE 11 and now it works.

When trying to create a new project in CubeIDE (either STM32 or from CubeMX) a window for StandAloneUpdater pops up, begins to run and then fails. At this point the CubeIDE closes.

I've done:

'chmod -R 755 /Applications/STM32CubeIDE.app' and

'xattr -c /Applications/STM32CubeIDE.app '

thinking it was some sort of mac gatekeeper permissions error, but that did not help.

I tried to reinstall jdk, but it didn't work
