Although the EV1 evaluation board, packed with goodies, is listed as US$399, the processor itself is not much more expensive than a regular stm32.
I see Mouser (a UK distributor) lists EV1 at £316.62, but smaller "Discovery kit" boards DK1 is £54 and DK2 is £78 and the processor itself between £7 and £14 at one-off quantities.
Of course you don't get all the extra peripherals. I think DK1 doesn't even have a display!
