>>Are you suggesting that all antennas should be mounted above the roof ?
In my situation the height would significantly improve my coverage area. I didn't want to get up there, or run cables.
Generally people don't want to make holes in the roof, but if you have A/C units and conduit already in place, it would certainly allow opportunities to get LoS.
I suspect jamming or contention could become an issue, the band here is quite wide, and time synchronized frequency/channel hopping (deployment specific LFSR and seed) could be implemented.
CAN has a relatively small payload, so time on-air would be quite low.
I found the NUCLEO and SX1272 bought separately netted out cheaper. These mix and match well with the DISCO implementation.

I checked those boards,
The SX1276 has a much wider frequency range. 130 - 1020MHz over the SX1272 860 - 1020MHz
that new ST Kit B-L072Z-LRWAN1 has this new SX1276. its seems to be the better long term solution.
the chip itself, CMWX1ZZABZ-078 is under $20
at 37.5kbps, its double what I am using on CanBus.
nice to see the frequency synthesizer has a resolution of 61Hz.
I would use the chip on the slaves. not sure about the terminal, already a little crowded,
I may opt for USB to the ST kit B-L072Z-LRWAN1.

With a roof mounted beacon, I was able to demonstrate street level LoS to 2.5 km (1.5 miles) with the least aggressive coding/spreading settings, using the Discovery boards, and 5 dBi antennas.

Hi Clive
I don't know how to connect to the ST kit B-L072Z-LRWAN1 through USB to my PC. In attached image, i connect to my PC and don'tload usb driver of st-link/v2-1. It don't connect. please show me the image of connecting your PC with target board of the ST kit B-L072Z-LRWAN1.
Thans for your help. David

Make sure you have current drivers, they should install as part of the ST-LINK Utilities package, or as the driver only package. You should see 4 or so devices come up related to the ST-LINK, VCP and MSC, etc
Connect directly to the PC, not via a hub. Try another cable, or USB port.

Ah - but the
B-L072Z-LRWAN1 has that chip inside the muRata module - so that only the >799 MHz range is available (ie, the 868 & 915 bands).
See the muRata datasheet.
