STM32F407G-DISC1 vs STM32F4DISCOVERY, new part number?

What does the part number change mean? STM32F407G-DISC1 datasheet points at the old STM32F4DISCOVERY datasheet.

    The hopeful interpretation is that it support mbed, VCP and the ST-LINK/V2-1 compared to the original board released 4 years ago. This would require a more powerful STM32F103 part like other new DISCO and NUCLEO boards.
