Hello,
we're also suffering from the general part shortage and are planning to switch some of the STM32 devices we use to a lower temp grade, as those seem to be better available.
I'm trying to figure out what impact the switch from a grade 7 to a grade 6 device would have, but unfortunately we only have measurements for the ambient and case temperature. Our software did not yet support reading out the internal temperature when we did our climatic tests.
The datasheet gives the thermal resistance for junction to ambient but not junction to case. Could you please provide this information?
And is there way to estimate how much more power the grad 6 device will dissipate under the same conditions? (Same board, same software, same temperature, etc.)
Thank you!
Regards
Ferdinand

Dear @FGrossmann
Welcome to the STM32 Community
Are you sure your question is related to #[STM32 Motor Control] ?
Best regards

Hi Laurent,
not at all - I removed the tag. Must have slipped by when I posted the question.
Btw. I finally got an answer through a support case. For the STM32F072VBH, the thermal resistance junction to case = 13.8 °C/W
