Powering STM32F4-Discovery from micro usb

I'm looking to power the STM32F4 discovery from the micro usb port, while keeping modifications to the board at a minimum (I don't have great faith in my smd soldering).

This is my current idea:

- remove r46 to ensure that the usb regulator isn't turned on by accident.

- connect a diode from the PA9 pin on p2 to one of the 5V pins

Am I going to run into any problems with this setup?

The only problem is  a  loss of the PA9 functionality. You don't need to remove R46 - no accident is possible  due to the same rail is  always present as a main power source.
