How do I setup a GATED internal trigger connection (ITR0/ITR1/ITR2/ITR3) to TIMx_TRGO?

I have no problem using an external signal GATED. An internal trigger connection as TRIGGER also works fine. But for some reason I can't use my internal trigger connection GATED. -What do you think I might be doing wrong?

What are the symptoms and how are they different from the expectations?
