Hi, I want to know if there is some recommendation for a specific microcontroller for traffic lights control. The idea is building a smart traffic light with a 32bit MCU. Thanks.

Perhaps the family where I can look for.

Well one step would be to have a tear down of a similar speced traffic light.

Smart might need connected / RF, maybe with car hall type sensors on the ground, etc..

Firmware update over the air, etc...

This will determine the memory footprint, which would be the first criteria.

Codesize goes up very fast, and 16-32k may requires lots of code optimisation down the road.

So instead of listening "parts available now", first make sure that you idendify the right part that will bring you to the end of your project...

Compare the quantity you need, its dollar value, and the engineering paid men hours debugging.... and make an educated guess. Time cost vs Chip cost
