Dear STM32 Design Team,

Great chip, congratulations and thank you.

There are things however to be change in my opinion.

The pins used for FSMC (and other interfaces like SDIO) are all over the places making it difficult for pcb layout.

Can the Data be align with port pins? I mean D0/Px.00, ... D15/Px.15

Pin remapping seems to be messy too. If possible have a look at what Microchip did with PIC24 series Peripheral Pin Select feature, where almost any function can be assigned to any pin.

This is certainly one of those areas where you cannot please all of the people all of the time!

There will always be tradeoffs in getting pinout arrangements to suit the largest number of (potential) customers.

Yes, I think so too - but it's always going to be a trade-off between versatility and complexity/ease-of-use.

There is a certain other prodcer of Cortex-M3 chips that makes a specific point of the fact that they do not ever ''multiplex'' pin functions... ;)
