Hi all.
I would like to use the VN5T016AH-E high-side driver and I have some questions.
*Are there 8V in the CS pin under fault conditions?
*Can it measure max 4.2A with a K about 4240? Why do you specify 4V in the datasheet without knowing the value of the Rsense resistor?
*If I don't need latch-off option, is there an autorestart mode after a fault condition?

A: I'd say very likely, based on table 9, voltage clamps at 8 V.

A: 4.2 A -> K = 4250.

As you can see Vsense upper limits is 5V. To stay safe, ST choose 4V (80%) as an example. My understanding, that non-linearity and ground voltage mismatch between IC and uCPU put this limitation as 0,5V-minimum and 4V-maximum (counting on 5V adc or uCPU).

We have single ended design here, differential sensing approach 'd be better of course, likely ST made decision to save pins. 

So back to Q, you free to choose any Rsense as you wish but Vsense should stay 0.5V < 4V, or 0.5V < 2.8V for 3,3V uCPU.

A: FR_Stby
In case of latch-off for overtemperature/overcurrent condition,
a low pulse on the FR_Stby pin is
needed to reset the channel.
