I have a hardware question about the viper53e chip. For VDD startup voltage, what is the correct voltage to guarantee the mosfet switching will start? I have seen some examples where 11.5V was not enough, and curious to know what the is the best VDD to use at startup, to guarantee the mosfet will turn on?

Welcome @jbrewster, to the community!
the data sheet of the VIPER53E mentions a voltage of min 10.2V, typ 11.5V and max 12.8V for VDDon.
So if you want to be guaranteed to reach the switch-on threshold, you have to take the worst case value, in this case the maximum value of 12.8V.
Hope that helps?
