How to turn on  stm32f429-disc1 board by using an external power supply and use stlink only for programming and debugging.

...additionally remove JP3 and the jumpers at CN4 to disconnect the onboard target. The SWD interface of the ST-LINK/V2-1 is then free for debug external targets.

Hook up a supply to a 5V pin (and GND).
