EVLPOWERSTEP01 evaluation with STEVAL-PCC009V2 board facing primary issues.

Suryakant Mane

We have purchased an EVLPOWERSTEP01 and a STEVALPCC009V2. We installed the SPINFamily software on our Windows10 64-bit computer and on connection it states 'The FW version is not the last, upgrade to 2.7'.

The document states this is done via the IBUUI updater, but when this runs it states it cannot access the IBUUI.inf driver. This is a poor start to our initial research into using the powerstep01 in our new high power stepper controller. What are our next steps?

Please refer the attached error screen captures.

Firstly we continued the evaluation on old firmware version. In this case, the Hiz flag is continuously activated and not getting cleared. Unable to go for the further steps in evaluation.

Thank you

Hi @Suryakant Mane and welcome to the ST Community.

If the “IBUUI updater? software does not work as expected, the firmware can be updated manually using the ST-LINK/V2 programmer or an equivalent tool.

If you do not have the mentioned tools you can proceed with the pre-installed FW.

In your screenshot the "Autorefresh" option is not checked, are you performing a Read Status to verify if the HiZ flag is cleared?

If the Autorefresh box is checked, the display is automatically updated at the selected polling rate.

Concerning the next steps the powerSTEP01 parameters configuration is mandatory. The Wizard window helps you to configure the device by using predefined values depending on the hardware (board, motor, etc.). Clicking on the button in the toolbar (magic stick) or selecting Wizard in the Tools menu opens the Wizard panel. For more details you can refer to the software user manual UM2022 (section 3.3 from page 35).

You can find other useful info in the powerSTEP01 technical documentation: datasheet, user manuals, design tips.
