In the end, since I am using the L6235 to drive the motor I was wondering whether this IC is able to handle current coming back from the motor when braking. Hi Rasmus,
until the motor current and the bus voltage stay within the absolute maximum ranges there are no issues. Basically I confirm all the suggestions from the post you linked. However, the integrated overcurrent protection does not operate in this case (it is not sesitive to ''reverse'' currents); so you cannot rely on it for the device protection. Enrico
