Hi, there
On page 10 of the datasheet, it is recommended to use 5 to 0.05 ohm resistor for the current sense resistor connected between the CG pin and the GND. If the CG pin is connected directly to the GND, or BAT-, what does it mean to the current sensing and the accuracy of SOC ?
I was able to use the Power Saving Voltage Mode (VMODE = 1) to get a good reading of the battery voltage. Yet, I was hoping that I can use the SOC to better increase the accuracy of the FG reading. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, the SOC reading is never close to correct. Before I post the detailed register configurations, I want to know if the SOC or current sensing is even possible when the CG pin is connected to the BAT- directly.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Eric

A current sensor is required to measure the current. The STC3115 uses a shunt resistor connected between CG and GND.
If you connect CG directly to GND, no current measurement will be possible.
