While referring the reference designs and applications notes from ST, I can find all the designs and reference notes having active PFC before this LLC resonant controller.
My question is can we use L6559 with out a active PFC. My requirement is 110-230VAC input and output is 24V/4A.
What is the advantage of using a PFC controller and what is the disadvantage if not used. Is it possible to get any reference design for L6559 in AC to DC conversion without a active PFC controller.
