Dear Sirs.
I have tried to set STPC-Atlas in Doze- and standby-state without success. I have tried the following settings: 1: Regoffset 08dh = 0C0h (should automatically give doze state after four seconds, since SMI CONTROL REGISTER = 00h after reset). But I can't see any difference in power consumption, Why? 2: Regoffset 060h = 08h (should automatically give standby state after two minutes, since SMI CONTROL REGISTER = 00h after reset). But I can't see any difference in power consumption, Why? How much is the power consumption reduced in the two states? On page 604 in programming manual issue 1.0 july 2, 2002, it says that current revision af STPC does not implement support for stopping CPU and other system clocks. Does the power management features work at all?2003-12-01 03:28 AM
The PMU only acts on the CPU of the STPC Atlas. Therefore, by placing the PMU instructions to doze... you only act on the CPU which is a small part of the system. Therefore, don't be suprised to see that the power consumption does not drop all that much when you activate the PMU features.
On the Elite on the other hand, the effects are more noticeable as the CPU is the biggest agent of the system. Therefore, by activating the PMU, you will see significant changes in the power consumption.
