In circuit bootloader via RS232 or USB ?

Hi Guys,
STR912FW4?X6 device: Do you know if ST have any plans for a simple in circuit bootloader app that allows flash programming using a PC's RS232 or USB connecting to the STR9 Rs232 or USB ? The ST CAPS utility requires special hardware/cables. Philips have LPC2000 flash utility, Atmel has SamBa etc. I would like our product to be field upgradable with minimum effort. Our distributors do not have the skill or knowledge to use JTAG and take the lid off the product for flash upgrades. Maybe I have to write my own ? Thanks.2011-05-17 12:30 AM
Hi,
I think so. Now I have to write a IAP bootload code to Flash memory first via the JTAG, and then update code via RS232 or USB. BTW, I found it is difficult to program the STR9's flash via FlashLINK in the CAPS, it is need to try many times for a success. My PC is P4 2.6G with windows XP. Jianhua2011-05-17 12:30 AM

Hi Starm,
Any news on the boot loader ?2011-05-17 12:30 AM
Hi STARM
Has the IAP software been posted yet? I couldn't see anything on the forum or the ST Microcontrollers website. If its available, can you point me to it please. If not, is it still planned? Do you know timescales? Thanks, Andy2011-05-17 12:30 AM
We need uart0 boot loader for upgrade firmware.
On my application : - can't open box (case) for plug JTAG programming,Waranty void if opened. - can't leave JTAG connector outside - my boss want upgrade firmware via serial same as external modem or router. ST have a project to make that tools , 3rd party or opensource, pls let me know ? [ This message was edited by: kmaster on 30-07-2006 10:01 ]2011-05-17 12:30 AM
