I have an Elite design w/o super I/O. Instead all those lines goes into a Xilinx to be able to emulate whatever signal needed since I do not need any functionality from Super I/O. Now the board won't boot. I tried to find aplication note 1080 but I can't find it. I get PCIclock at about 500 khz. I get Isaclk and GPIOclock. Any good ideas. What should my test setup be? Hclk, clkdiv? I have added resistors so I can Choose most combinations.

I had the same problem. Please check MCLK. Check if MCLKO is really connected to MCLKI. Also MCLK-PLL may not run because it's not powered - check pins VDD_MCLKO (AC15) and VDD_MCLKI (AC17). I found these hints in the knowledge base.

This is the chematic over my Strap options. I checked VDD_PLL ok and MCKLI and MCLKO are connected to each other. Can it be really wrong with my Strap options. The datasheets says a bit different on how to use some options.

I checked your straps. I think they are nice. But I don't know about MD14-strap. What for is this strap?
What I wanted to tell you in my last message is: We had problems with our soldering of the BGA-pins from STPC Elite. At one board of our boards pin AC15 (MCLKO) was'nt soldered correctly. So MCLKO was not connected to MCLKI. But they should due to the schematic. PCICLK was about 550kHz. When I pressed with my fingers on the chip PCICLK was correct. So are you sure that MCLKO is connected with MCLKI? Bernd2003-05-23 01:32 AM
Generally speaking, when PCICLK is running at 500KHz, it means that PCICLKO and PCICLKI are not looped back properly. The result is that the PLL does not hook properly and the result is a spurious frequency.
Now if you have had soldering problems as you describe this may be the source of your problem. Stephen
