What is possible spatial resolution of VL53L1X and X-NUCLEO-53L1A1 board?

Hello, I want to buy a SPAD sensor to obtain 3D point cloud data.

I find VL53L1X sensor which actives 16x16 SPADs, and I guess it can support 16x16 spatial resolution of depth map. Am I right?

And I also find the evaluation board, X-NUCLEO-53L1A1, and I think it can connect the three VL53L1X. Then, can I get 48x16 spatial resolution of depth map by using those three VL53L1X sensors?

Thank you.

Unfortunately, you are not quite right. It takes a 4x4 array to collect one distance. So the best you could would be a 2x2.

I can choose any 4x4 out of the 16x16 array, so in theory I could get 13x13 using one range of the 169 points. But that is a lot of overlapping data.

And each of the 169 point would take 15ms to get.

But the points are kind of blurred together due to the overlapping and not quite what you want.

Our next chip - due out in Q1 of next year can do a 64 point image every 1/15 of a second. Can you wait?

Hi, John.

Thank you for your kind reply.

Did you mean one VL53L1X can generate 2x2 depth image? Or only one distance?
