LSM9DS0 accelerometer issues

Back in 2015, I ordered 19 LSM9DS0 boards from Adafruit for a project (which is taking longer than anticipated!).

I've recently noticed that the Accel X, Y and Z readings are materially different for some boards when the boards are flat in a common position. Some read X : close to zero, Y: close to zero, Z: close to 9.5, whereas others are all over the place (such as X: -1.4, Y: -0.3, Z: 7.00. or X: 3.36, Y: 7.00, Z: 4.32). It seems as though the orientation of the board no longer aligns with the orientation of the output of the accelerometer.

I have a few questions:
- What's the design life of an LSM9DS0?
- Should I expect some failures of the accelerometer after 9 years?
- For the boards that are giving strange readings, is there a way to reset the accelerometer in any way, or to compensate the readings with offsets (and is this level of offset usual?)
