that should be not necessary to insert the SD card to run the STWINKT1B with the STBLE Sensor app, except in the case that the specific application requires the data storage on the micro SD. Is the firmware on your STWINKT1B the default one?
By the way, you could always program the tool using the available examples you can find in the dedicated firmware function packs: for example, in the FP-IND-PREDMNT1 you can find the project :\Projects\STM32L4R9ZI-STWIN\Demonstrations\Predictive_Maintenance_BLE.
Please let me know you can check it.

Hi,
The default FW on STEVAL-STWINKT1B is the Datalog Function Pack, which requires an SD Card to log sensor data. It's anyhow advisable to upgrade to the latest version available on ST website.
If you want to run the sample application that is shown in the original STEVAL-STWINKT1 Unboxing video you need to download the FP-IND-PREDMNT1 function pack (BLE version).
