Can we use ISM303DAC for detecting vehicle's presence by sensing deflection in earth's magnetic field when vehicle (Ferromagnetic material) enter/depart parking area.

Greetings !

We are looking for the presence detector sensor for our smart parking project. In this we expect magnetometer sensor to detect deflection in magnetic field and it will give interrupt whenever there is change. Rest of the time sensor will remain in sleep mode to conserve energy.

Also we are looking for ultrasonic, mmWave radar for confirmation of vehicle's presence.

Kindly confirm regarding ISM303DAC and suggest suitable ultrasonic, Radar modules.

yes, you can use the magnetometer of the ISM303DAC for vehicle presence detecting in parking areas. This is a typical user application case.

You might also use the QVAR of the ILPS22QS, or, when available, the STHS34PF80 presence sensor.

Is it possible to share user application example of ISM303DAC for design reference.

I have doubts regarding sensors placement as follows.

1) Can we place sensor in the ceiling and sense deflection in earth's magnetic field when vehicle enters/departs from below the sensor. (Please refer following images for two different cases and confirm can we use ISM303DAC in both cases)

2) Is there any limitations on ISM303DAC's functioning to detect deflection in earth's magnetic field because of multi-floor building.

3) Is there any possibility that vehicles entry / depart will affect adjacent  sensor device ?
