Can be ASILB-LIBRARY used with single ASM330LHB sensor?

KSzurman

Hello,

we're considering to use ASM330LHB in the SIL2 functional safety application and we would like to use and take credit from ST's ASILB-LIBRARY. However ASILB-LIBRARY use-case as it's documented expects that two redundant senors will be employed. Can be ASILB-LIBRARY used only with single IMU source?

Thank you for the answer and support

@Denise SANFILIPPO thank you for your awesome article on this topic https://community.st.com/t5/mems-and-sensors/how-to-augment-your-automotive-safety-applications-with-the-imu/ta-p/670346

Hi @KSzurman ,

Welcome to ST Community!

The ST ASIL B solution is made up of an ASIL B software library called ASM330LHBxx_ASILB_library, certified by the third party TÜV, and two identical IMUs (either 2x ASM330LHB or 2x ASM330LHBG1).

The ASIL B software library implements software safety mechanisms which allows the overall solution, which is made up of hardware (two redundant IMUs) + software library, to be ASIL B compliant.

So ASILB-LIBRARY cannot be used only with single IMU.
