Hello,
I'm evaluating the SPIRIT1 transceiver with the ''STEVAL-IDS001V5'' evaluation kit. After installing the ''STSW-CONNECT009'' version 1.0.7 software, it does not launch when I click on the shortcut, it just briefly turns the mouse cursor into a progress circle, and then nothing happens. I have tried installing the software on: Windows 8.1 64-bit Windows 8 64-bit Windows 7 32-bit And have tried the various compatibility modes and ''Run as Administrator'', and nothing has worked. (The STEVAL-IDS001V5 USB hardware works fine, it shows up as a COM port in Windows after installing the drivers. This seems to be purely a problem with the software included with it). Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a solution? Thanks!2014-06-11 09:23 PM
Hello,
I figured out the problem, here is the description and solution to save time for anyone else who encounters the same problem:Solution: Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Runtime from: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3387Problem: ST incorrectly includes the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Runtime DLLs with the program, however, the program actually needs the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Runtime DLLs. A lot of people who already have the correct runtime installed (from using other programs previously) will not run into this issue. I, however, had created several clean installations across multiple versions of Windows and could never get it to work, precisely because the wrong Visual C++ runtime was included, and the correct one had never been installed on the system before. I hope ST will more carefully test their programs in the future, I was about ready to give up on evaluating the SPIRIT1 RF transceiver.
