Hello,

An official Linux example code based on the VL53L1X_ULD API running in Linux User space will be released in few weeks.

Please note that it is not a Kernel Linux driver but an user space Linux example code.

But in the mean time, this unofficial bit of code will get you going. It's very simple. See if it works for you.
