EDIT: Figured it out, I had to run the VL6180 in continuous mode.
I'm using a VL6180 for hand detection. I've successfully set up the interrupt at a certain range and it works nicely when the MCU is running. When the MCU is not running (aka not polling the sensor), the GPIO1 is low. I've probed it both connected and disconnected from the MCU to make sure it's not be influenced. Can the VL6180 generate the interrupt by itself?

Thank you for your interest for ST products.
Indeed running the VL6180 in continuous mode will fix the issue.
