Dear @waclawek.jan , all,
It's been a while since we updated on this topic, but finally I can get back with good news!
The fix of this behavior is now completed and no more white spacing should appear around the code blocks.
Feel free to test it on your end and let me know if you still face it.
I apologize for it taking so long to be fixed and the inconveniences you faced in this time.
Regards,
Lina

Hello @waclawek.jan ,
Thanks for letting me know. I am looking into it why UI is set this way. Will keep you posted once I will have an answer.
I am sorry about the experience.
BR,
Lina

This problem gets more and more aggravated if one edits his own posts several times, as each time the post is saved more and more space is added.

Test
some code, there was no extra newline around it in the initial post
... and the edit added them.
So, this bug report was clearly ignored by Khoros.

When i edit my post, quite a few newlines are introduced before and after my code snippets
That needs a fix ASAP, because its really bad.

Yes, there are still things to be fixed in the community, but I can't let the statement "nothing gets fixed" go unchallenged.
I've also been annoyed by the problem of extra blank lines before and after code blocks, but until the fix comes you can work around it by editing manually after switching to HTML. I've just forgotten exactly how I did it, but I'll be happy to look at it again if necessary.
Regards
/Peter

You'll note who's doorstep I placed blame, and it's not ST's.
There are issues here since inception that have still not been remediated. As any kind of bug list and progress reporting on addressing, prioritizing and fixing is entirely opaque, it's hard to discern progress from the outside beyond the rearranging of icons and size of edit boxes.
The Jive team still seemed a lot more responsive to material functionality issues, well until the acquisition, and they killed the flagship product, and lost the plot of "As A Service"
