Hi, for my diploma project I made a DSP guitar effects pedal - designed a custom PCB and everything. On it I have an STM32F405RGT7 and a TLV320AIC33IRGZT audio codec. The codec is set up using I2C. The problem occurs when I try to communicate with it - I used a logic analyser and both lines (SDA and SCL) are continuously held LOW. I tried a new project and did the setup again with a simple I2C scanner - still nothing. I then tried to set the pins as GPIO pins and held them HIGH and then they both remained HIGH as they should - I think that hardware is not an issue since I have triple checked every connection, and given that the GPIO can hold the lines HIGH nothing appears to be shorted. I now believe the problem lies in the code but I just can see what could go wrong - does anyone have any idea?

Code formatting applied - please see here for future reference.Hello everyone,I'm currently working on an STM32 project using the NUCLEO-G431KB board. I've come across the BSP_COM API in the STM32Cube firmware, which seems to be an abstraction layer for handling USART/UART communication. I have successfully set up the following code to send data over a virtual COM port using "printf": COM_InitTypeDef BspCOMInit; BspCOMInit.BaudRate = 115200; BspCOMInit.WordLength = COM_WORDLENGTH_8B; BspCOMInit.StopBits = COM_STOPBITS_1; BspCOMInit.Parity = COM_PARITY_NONE; BspCOMInit.HwFlowCtl = COM_HWCONTROL_NONE; if (BSP_COM_Init(COM1, &BspCOMInit) != BSP_ERROR_NONE) { Error_Handler(); } printf( "Hello, Virtual COM Port!\n" );  This works perfectly for transmitting data, but I'm struggling to figure out how to receive data using the BSP_COM interface. Is there a built-in function in BSP_COM for receiving data, or do I need to revert to using HAL_UART_RECEIVE&nbs

Hello,I would like to understand the code to carry out my software integration :  /* Configure SD pin detect */ __SD_DETECT_GPIO_CLK_ENABLE(); __HAL_RCC_PWR_CLK_ENABLE(); And This refers to lines of code that I am lost, for the first line for example #define __SD_DETECT_GPIO_CLK_ENABLE() __HAL_RCC_GPIOG_CLK_ENABLE() And after : #define __HAL_RCC_GPIOG_CLK_ENABLE() do { \ __IO uint32_t tmpreg; \ SET_BIT(RCC->AHB2ENR, RCC_AHB2ENR_GPIOGEN); \ /* Delay after an RCC peripheral clock enabling */ \ tmpreg = READ_BIT(RCC->AHB2ENR, RCC_AHB2ENR_GPIOGEN); \ UNUSED(tmpreg); \ } while(0) I would just like to configure the SD card to be able to write the code from an example on the evaluation card. My real card is not the evaluation card and I would like the code just necessary. Do you have an example for STM32L5xx with the file .ioc for example.Thank you

Hello , I am trying to write a USB OTG FS code from scratch (in Device mode) .At this point i can receive and send control transfers .For the Device Descriptor and Set address commands there seem to be no issue but with the Configuration Descriptor there seems to be something wrong. In task manager my device appears as Unknown USB Device ( Configuration Descriptor Request Failed ) When i use a USB sniffer i am able to see that my device responds to the request and the packet doesn't seem to have any errors Packets sniffed :Configuration Descriptor Response: I am also attaching the full Log from WiresharkUseful filter:  (!(_ws.col.protocol == "USBLL")) && !(_ws.col.protocol == "Syslog") What could be causing this behavour ? My goal for now is for the device to enumerate and not appear as an Unknown USB Device.Note: The task manager error appears a few seconds before the Configuration Request and Response in the sniffer, I am not sure if thi

Hello,[VERSION]: 6.3.2[TOOL]: Board Designer, MC WorkBench[DETAILS]: I created a custom board, created a new project and generated the code. All fine.I opened Board Designer and changed the crystal frequency on the board. I saved board Json file.I opened my project in MC Workbench and generated the project again.[EXPECTED BEHAVIOR]: New selected crystal frequency should be shown in STMCubeMX-Clock Configuration/.ico file, but is still the old one.New selected crystal frequency should trigger source code change in SystemClock_Config(), but is still the old one. Thanks,

All I'm looking for is to just somehow set up a GDB server for the NUCELO-H7S3L8 so I can do some debugging. My other board (NUCLEO-L476RG) worked fine using openocd, but my H7 has decided to siphon my precious humanity by being insanely difficult. I tried to use ST-LINK_gdbserver because I assume this is what CubeIDE uses under the hood. In fact, I can create a basic blinking program for the H7, compile it, upload it, and debug it all in CubeIDE just fine, but this is just not my preferred style of development. But CubeIDE apparently has some sort of magical incantation that my lowly existence doesn't know about in order to get ST-LINK_gdbserver to actually connect to the H7 target. > C:\ST\STM32CubeIDE_1.16.1\STM32CubeIDE\plugins\com.st.stm32cube.ide.mcu.externaltools.stlink-gdb-server.win32_2.1.400.202404281720\tools\bin>ST-LINK_gdbserver.exe -cp C:\ST\STM32CubeIDE_1.15.1\STM32CubeIDE\plugins\com.st.stm32cube.ide.mcu.externaltools.cubeprogrammer.win32_2.1.201.202404072231

Hello ST Forum,I am currently working on a project that aims to help surfers analyse their surfing sessions. The goal is to use a LSM6DSV16BX attached to a surfboard, using the IMU to analyse the board's movement, and one of the QVar channel to detect whether the board is put in water.I was wondering about how to use the second QVar channel. In particular I was wondering if it could be used to detect the presence of the surfer on the board without contact. In the August 2022 revision of AN5755, the document states that using a single electrode is recommended for presence detection, especially in cases where powerline noise is weak, which seems to be my use case. However, the surfer and his/her surfboard will be immerged in seawater. Do you know if it is possible to detect human presence in these conditions ?Additionnaly, since QVar channels seem designed to be used differentially, do you know if I can use one channel to detect if the device is in water, and the other channel to detect a

Hello,I am trying to use the CRC module on a STM32G491 (bare metal). But I simply can not get the same CRC as when I calculate it with some online tools.Withhttps://www.lddgo.net/en/encrypt/crcandhttps://www.sunshine2k.de/coding/javascript/crc/crc_js.htmlI get 0xA6322B20  as custom CRC for simply the value 0x05 and pol 0x04C11DB7 and init value 0xFFFFFFFF in 32bit (no revs). RCC->AHB1ENR |= bit12; // enable CRC clock CRC->CR |= bit0; // reset CRC while((CRC->CR&bit0)==bit0); // probably not necassary CRC->DR = 5; uint32_t crc = CRC->DR; This gives me the value 0xD0C1B610. The Polynomial formula on lddgo is stated as x32+x26+x23+x22+x16+x12+x11+x10+x8+x7+x5+x4+x2+x+1 which is the same as stated in the RM0440 section 16 page 454.So where am I going wrong???

I need the thermal resistance Junction to Ambient for LIS2DH12, LGA-12 package.

I am in a similar situation to @Richard Lowe back here:https://community.st.com/t5/stm32-mcus-wireless/looking-for-uart-guidance-for-the-stm32wb05kn-network-co/m-p/721231The getting started guide from the last post there references a "X-CUBE-WB05N user manual" which does not exist.Technically i do understand that the WB05N is actually an BlueNRG-LPS relabeled and pre flashed with the UART DTM firmware. Which means I already expect to fall back to the old documentation for the BlueNRG DTM for normal use. But this doesn't answer the "network co processor only" specific stuffIs it actually locked to be only that? So do I need to interface with the UART to get the SPI image? And if this is the case, which tooling (think production) can do this? Or can it be re flashed via SWD? And if it can, what prevents anyone from using it as a full blown MCU?Also the old info here was that the device is shipped empty, which from the getting started guide is not true? https://community.st

Hi evryone,I'm trying to do some work on the stm32 L552ZE-Q and I'm trying to launch some demo projects available but once I've imported the porject in the IDE I can't build the project. I have that error:and I also got a warning but I don't find why it is here:And the build button is inaccessible: Thank you for your help!

I am trying to setup offline functionality of STM32CubeMX. I currently have version 6.4 installed and am trying to install MCU packages, specifically one for STM32L4 so I can configure code for the NUCLEO-L433RC-P. I have tried downloading the software from github at https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/STM32CubeL4/releases/tag/v1.17.0 and using that zip file "STM32CubeL4-1.17.0.zip" as the local source to attempt an install in CubeMX under Help -> Manage embedded software packages -> STM32Cube MCU Package for STM32L4 Series 1.17.0. It checks the file type, searches "pdsc within CMSIS Pack" and then gives me an error saying "This file is either corrupted or not a recognized package."One thing I notice is that the file size is different. The downloaded zip file is 495 MB while the file size indicated in Cube MX is 723 MB. This makes me think I need to get the STM32Cube MCU package from some other source. Could someone point me to the location where I can download the necessary fi

Am using the dual core STM32H747. A simple project in VScode from STMcubeMX built for CMAKE builds fine but intellisense bad. Becomes confused about which main.h, the one under CM4 or CM7. Have not been able to set up include path to make sense of this. You would think the output from STMcubeMX would work unmodified, but it does not. Could really use some help here.

Hello,I am trying to output the HSE to a GPIO PA8.I want to do it from scratch and have added this code to the HID example from ST. RCC->AHB1ENR |= RCC_AHB1ENR_GPIOAEN; // Enable GPIOA clock GPIOA->MODER &= ~GPIO_MODER_MODE8; // Clear the mode bits for PA8 GPIOA->MODER |= GPIO_MODER_MODE8_1; // Set PA8 as alternate function GPIOA->AFR[1] &= ~GPIO_AFRH_AFSEL8; // Clear AF selection for PA8 GPIOA->AFR[1] |= (0x00 << GPIO_AFRH_AFSEL8_Pos); // Set PA8 to AF0 (MCO1) RCC->CFGR &= ~RCC_CFGR_MCO1; // Clear the MCO1 source //Choose Source RCC->CFGR |= RCC_CFGR_MCO1_0; // Select HSE as MCO1 source RCC->CFGR &= ~RCC_CFGR_MCO1PRE; // Clear the MCO1 prescaler bits RCC->CFGR |= RCC_CFGR_MCO1PRE; // Set MCO1PRE bits to 010 for division by 5  The code works only for HSI and PLL ( confirmed with an oscilloscope). What could be causing HSE not to be outputted ?I tried with and without the prescaler enabled.I am also at

Hi. I developed a basic code in STM32CubeIDE to test an STM32L051C8T6 microcontroller, aiming to toggle the state of two LEDs connected to the custom-designed board for this chip. However, during debugging, an issue occurs with the execution flow. After initializing the peripherals and entering the main loop of the code, the delay function ("HAL_Delay()") seems to cause an error. The microcontroller appears to enter an idle state, and when the debugger execution is paused, it shows that the MCU is running instructions in the memory region "0x1FF00", outside the program's code area. The following error message is displayed:“Break at address '0x1ff00120' with no debug information available, or outside of program code.”When the code is compiled and executed without debugging, the microcontroller seems to freeze at the same point and does not respond, even after a hardware reset or power cycling.   /* USER CODE BEGIN Header */ /** ************************************************

I am trying to enter stop mode 2 and have it woken up by LPTIM1. Now my problem is that stop mode is not entered reliably (or it wakes up too early which I cannot differentiate). The probability stop mode is entered seems to depend on LPTIM1 configuration. I have checked the pending IRQs in NVIC after wake-up, but none is set when it does not enter stop mode. So I wonder why stop mode 2 was not entered or left too early. This is what I am doing:    uint32_t irqpend[16]; if(timeout_sec>=0) { vfLPTimerAlloc(1); vfLPTimerSetDuration(1,LPTIMER_CLK_LSE,timeout_sec*1000,true,true); } /* Enter a critical section but don't use the taskENTER_CRITICAL() * method as that will mask interrupts that should exit sleep mode. */ __asm volatile ( "cpsid i" ::: "memory" ); __asm volatile ( "dsb" ); __asm volatile ( "isb" ); if(timeout_sec>=0) { __HAL_RCC_LPTIM1_CLKAM_ENABLE(); // enable autonomous mode vfLPTimerEnable(1,0); } HAL_PWREx_EnterSTOP2Mode(PWR_STOPENTRY_WF

Hi, any idea about why stm32xx_hal_uart functions write to USART control registers by ATOMIC_CLEAR_BIT()/ATOMIC_SET_BIT(), while homologous stm32xx_hal_usart functions write to the same registers by CLEAR_BIT()/SET_BIT()?In example:UART_DMATransmitCplt() -> ATOMIC_CLEAR_BIT(huart ->Instance->CR3, USART_CR3_DMAT);USART_DMATransmitCplt() -> CLEAR_BIT(husart->Instance->CR3, USART_CR3_DMAT);Since both UART/USART are referred to by the same USART_TypeDef structure, I'd be expected to use them in the same way. So, is that due to some undocumented difference in the silicon between UART/USART?

Hi. I have both the ST1VAFE3BX and the X-NUCLEO-IKS4A1 and I'm trying to read data from the biosensors using MEMS-studio, but I don't see how to get MEMS-studio to recognize the biosensors.  The documentation for the biosensors has instructions for working with the ProfiMEMS tool (a different motherboard).  In that documentation, it shows that there are biosensors. The docs for the ST1VAFE3BX also indicate that it will work with the IKS4A1 but it's not obvious to me how to make MEMS-studio "see" the biosensors as a data source.any help would be appreicated.TIA.-Rich

Hello,I am new to STM MCUs and need to test the different peripherals of the STM32H745 to decide if it fits my project. I began with the GPIO_EXTI example, and it worked. Later, I tried to configure a USART for debugging purposes, but it didn’t work. After several days of trying, I reprogrammed the GPIO_EXTI example, but to my surprise, the LEDs no longer toggle when I press the user button. I have tried programming the ELF file using both STM32CubeIDE and STM32CubeProgrammer (after performing a full chip erase). In both cases, the programming process completes without errors.I have no idea why this is happening. Does anyone have any advice, please? Thank you very much.PS. I use the STM32H745I-DISCO board

Hi,Currently I am trying to measure MCU junction temperature on the STM32U575 via ADC4 TEMPSENSOR channel (CH13). Upon reading the datasheet and reference manual of the chip, I have some questions regarding this implementation.According to both the datasheet and reference manual, TEMPSENSOR is shared across ADC1 and ADC4 of the chip via internal channels of them (So this means the raw voltage value should be read out and calculated via ADC4 as expected). The temperature calculation from the reference manual shows that TS_CAL1 and TS_CAL2 are required calibration value and can be readoutHowever, according to table 16 of the datasheet, the above value are 14-bit raw data acquired by ADC1 (I also tried reading out these values from a few chips and they all exceeded 4095 (12-bit)Does this mean the above calibration data only used with raw 14-bit measured adc value from ADC1 and cannot be used with ADC4 12-bit (otherwise we have some overflow?) or I might have missed something out from

Hi, I am using stm32wba55cg nucleo board, and running the example application BLE_p2pServer. While the serial logs of the board show that the device is in advertisement mode, it can not be discovered on my samsung s20 fe, running android 13.I tried using different advertisement intervals, but no result.  Please help on this.

Dear Forum Members,I'm developing a hardware with a small LCD screen which is using a QSPI interface. I succeeded with an STM32H723 with its OCTOSPI interface through DMA, and I got good results, but I encountered memory mapping problems with the complicated split RAM structure of that MCU, so I switched to an STM32H573, which has all of its 640k RAM in one continous block.Signals used for data transmission: D0~D3, NCS, SCK. For commands and data headers, the protocol uses D0 only in 1-bit SPI mode, than pixel data is being sent in 4-bit QSPI format for each line.I'm struggling with the XSPI interface setting up correctly for the new microcontroller, it does not send out any data (viewed on a scope), even the NCS signal is not pulled down on HAL_XSPI_Transmit or HAL_XSPI_Command calls. I think I missed some registers which are not generated by the STM32Cube IDE. I've found AN5050, which is mostly about how to attach an external memory chip through these interfaces.I think I missed sett
