Posted on March 30, 2017 at 18:47I see varying information about whether the timers in my STM32F437 are 16 bit or 32. Maybe I missed a table in RM0090 or the data sheet. Could someone please point me to a place where this info might be consolidated? So far by hit or miss it seems TIM2 is 32 bits and TIM4 is 16?Thanks,JH

Posted on November 23, 2016 at 17:30The absolute path of a CubeMX project is embedded in the .ioc file. This makes a little more difficult moving the project elsewhere or restarting with the project for example when retrieving it from a remote Git repository. It would be better having the option to keep the project location-agnostic and to regenerate the project-derived files in the directory which contains the .ioc file. #feature-request #stm32cubemx

Posted on March 10, 2017 at 14:55Hello All,I am using SPC560B540L5 Discovery board and SPC stdutio 5.2.3 updated version code generator.I am trying to emulate the Flash as EEPROM using EED driver. The IDE is installed with EEPROM emulation software and the way I generate the project is also proper even then the necessary configuration files and libraries for EED are not getting generated after generating the code. Normally, it should get listed under the EEPROM Emulation driver in components directory, but nothing exists other than ''mak'' folder. Please find the snap below. But still I tried to build the project but the compilation failed due to below shown error.I also tried with the Test application''SPC560Bxx_RLA EE Test Application for Discovery'' but the problem repeats.Even I tried with different versions of (SPC5studio) 5.0.0, 5.2.1 and 5.2.3 but nothings works.Kindly help in getting the problem resolved. Thanks in AdvanceRegards,R.Santhamurthy

Posted on March 28, 2017 at 10:35Hi,I have a STM32F334 with a cylindrical watch 32.768kHz xtal connected as a LSE oscillator. LSE now works. Folks on the forum, were kind enough to point out to me about possible PCB related issues.Originally, I've had a EPSON SMD crystal in there.Found a multitude of problems in there after digging into the issue, the first problem was a dead 32.768kHz crystal. Many trials later, tried the same crystal connected to a HEF4060 on a veroboard to test the crystal, which verified that the crystal was dead. Tried a cylindrical watch crystal with the HEF4060 and it worked. Tried the same cylindrical crystal in the same position, which did not work at all. The PCB design issue came to my mind, eventually stuck the crystal on top of the F334 and soldered the pins directly on to the F334.Unfortunately, this also did not help. After pulling out some hair, I found that for the LSE to be turned ON, the RTC domain had to be reset, which allowed the LSE to be turned

Posted on March 24, 2017 at 17:58 Hi, I'm semi experienced with STM32, have been doing a lot of things. This issue is totally new to me: I'm trying the simplest thing ever, basic SPI, set as master, chip select managed by myself. Transmit works, clocking works, RXNE interrupt comes as supposed, but data register always reads as zero! The issue is only with SPI1; SPI2 (in different pins) works with exact same code! Done a lot of debugging, and reduced the issue to the minimal, super simple code: CPU: STM32F205VFT6 Clock config: SYSCLK at 120MHz, SPIs running at 30 MHz, but potential issues related to clock ruled out by running from 8MHz HSI divided down to 4MHz for SPI. This is the bare minimum initialization: RCC->AHB1ENR |= 0b111111111 /* PORTA to PORTI */;RCC->APB1ENR |= 1UL<<18 /*USART3*/ | 1UL<<14 /*SPI2*/;RCC->APB2ENR |= 1UL<<12 /*SPI1*/;GPIOA->AFR[0] |= 5UL<<20 | 5UL<<24 | 5UL<<28; // SPI1 alternate functions.GPIOB->AFR[1]

Posted on March 23, 2017 at 13:47I am using TIM2.CH2 input compare. No other interrupts are activated except TIM2.CH2. In TIM2_IRQ handler all IC bits except CH2 are set. Why?Using STM32Discovery on IAR. I expect TIM2_IRQ to fire up on trigger from outside. It does but CH2 interrupt ic leared and all other 3 IC interrupt bits are SET. Why?

Posted on March 25, 2017 at 09:27Hello everyone. I am using STM32F401RE Nucleo Board. I want to communicate with PC through USB CDC Virtual COM Port. I was following an instruction for STM32F4 Discovery and then I realized that my Nucleo Board didn't have a second micro USB port like his Discovery Board. Is it possible for me to make my own second USB port like Discovery Board on my Nucleo Board ? What should I do ? Thank you very much.

Posted on March 22, 2017 at 22:54I ultimately need 'instant on' ADC conversions.  For instance, when a timing gate goes high, I need to start taking ADC values immediately (the signal is only 100us wide),  The problem I'm running into is the lag: firing up the ADC in DMA mode from a 'cold start' takes 50+ usec to start getting values.  I tried leaving the ADC/DMA running, and just enabling/disabling interrupts, but even that takes ~25us from the point of enabling interrupts to getting values out.The attached picture shows the dilemma: blue is the timing gate, yellow/purple is the signal I need to sample, and green is toggling when samples are being taken.  You can see that from the rising edge (when DMA interrupts are enabled) to getting samples takes ~25us. Now I've got the ADC/DMA dumping values into a 1000 element array (circular, continuous conversion).  That's working fine, but I need to be able to either 1: see what 'index' the DMA is pointing to in

Posted on March 23, 2017 at 17:49Hello,I use DSI with external 25MHz osc. In some design I wanted to useHSI (is seems supported wrt. ref.manual) but the DSI PLL doesn'tlock at all.I use IDF=3 to have INFIN=16/3>4MHz and NDIV=125, thus Fvco=666MHz.ODF=2 (/4) hence DSI clk is 166MHz. All is in correct range. With HSE, the only difference is IDF=4...Maybe, HSI is not stable enough ?M.#f7 #hsi #dsi

Posted on March 20, 2017 at 15:53Hi,In my application I'm using the Independent watchdog on a STM32F407 with a maximum reload period of 2 ms. During some maintenance operations, we need to save some configuration parameters in flash memory. Even if we use the 16 kB sector, the erase time is greater than 2 ms and the IWDG make the MCU reset. Because there is only on flash bank on the 407 I can't kick the watchdog during the flash erase operation (and the bus stalls anyway), and it is not possible to disable the IWDG.In order to avoid these resets, I tried to reconfigure the IWDG with a max reload period of a few seconds which is, I measured, way greater than the time needed for the erase operation. In debug, the registers of the IWDG looks fine after the reconfiguration but when I tried in release or in debug but with no break point near the erase sector routine I have a IWDG reset. Is there any way to avoid this behavior or am I just not correctly reconfiguring the IWDG ?Many thanks in

Posted on March 24, 2017 at 02:08Are we getting close to the official announcement?  I recall reading that the L452's were supposed to be in the distribution channel this month.  Is that still the plan?  I see the part numbers are already there at a couple big distributors.I'd really like to give this chip a go outside of Nucleo64 board I already have.  The CEU6 would hit a sweet spot for me.#stm32l #news #stm32l452

Posted on February 07, 2017 at 17:45When an SPI in SLAVE is clocked continuously (with NSS active) and DR is *not* written upon every TXE set, there are several possible scenarios for MOSI behaviour after the last explicitly written data bit is transmitted: MOSI is set permanently at a predetermined level (0 or 1)MOSI remains permanenlty at the last transmitted bit's levelMOSI is threestatedMOSI 'echoes' the received data on MISO, delayed by N SCK clocksMOSI transmits the last written data as if they would be written repeatedlyunspecified/undocumentedCurrently, the behaviour of SPI in STM32 (namely STM32F40x) is undocumented in this regard. Hereby, I would like to ask ST to properly document this behaviour in the Reference Manuals.Rationale:STM32s' SPIs in slave configuration are often used with masters with continuous clocking and no option for byte/word framing (e.g. various Cortex-A based SoC) (the 'F4xx itself, when used as a master, has no practically usable provision for framing
