Reliability of STM8S internal MVR...

Because I don't find related information elsewhere (datasheet, application notes, etc.) I would ask it there.

So, I have famous W1209 thermostat board with Nuvoton MCU, which I'm replace by an STM8S103F3.

For proper operation it is needed to place an capacitor between VCAP and GND pins.

There is exactly place where trouble occurred: unluckily capacitor was been shorted, so, I'm literally shorts MVR to GND.

When I'm connected to MCU via ST-LINK (5

Volt, SWIM, RST and GND) MCU isn't respond, don't allowing any kind of data exchanging.

When I'm checking state of MCU by finger (old danger behavior, I know) I'm nearly burn it and immediately disable ST-LINK adapter.

When I replaced damaged capacitor by right one, MCU allows at least flash/register state reading.

So, question: did my STM8S is reliable now, after nearly minute-two short circuited their MVR to ground and powered by ST-LINK?

Or, it is better to replace them?

How to check MVR reliability?

Or, maybe, MVR had an OCP, so no worry at all?

With best regards, Vladyslav Pantilimonov.
