Can this VL53L1CX model be used for liquid level monitoring? (I understand VL53L5CX detects liquid level)

It is mentioned in ST website that the FoV of VL53L1CX can be edited programmatically. How to edit the FoV of VL53L1CX via program? Could not get these info in API doc or datasheet. Please give the details to control the FoV.
