Hypoterminal is dead

Posted on September 16, 2010 at 23:33

It's not even as if Hyperterminal is a standard part of Windows any more:

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

I've tried to avoid it for many years.

I use RealTerm rather a lot for the hex modes, send and capture options. For things where I need file transfer capabilities I found Clear Terminal to be quite effective.

No, I really don't think that was a question asked by me 6 years ago!

Far more likely, this was a reply to something else which has got disconnected from its original question.

Good to see ST keeping up the quality with the new forum ...

And Microsoft does that very well, too... that link in the OP is rotten.

Good to see you around, Andy.

I replied to the old thread some what out of amusement, it came up as a 'related' topic/thread to one I had been looking at, and I was also trying to get my head around 'marking something as obsolete' which apparently not something I can do as a user.

I'd be further amused if the new forum software actually emailed you an alert about this, or if it just popped up in the InBox here..

Yes, it was the forum that emailed me an alert of this thread's resurrection!
