Interfacing of Optical Ethernet Module with STM32MP257F-EV1

Amruta_Dixit

The project requirement is to use optical ethernet with STM32MP257F. I want to try this interfacing first at STM32MP257F EV1 with some copper to optical Ethernet converter module, but in STM32MP257F EV1, Ethernet pins are not available for interfacing. Kindly suggest some solution for using optical ethernet with STM32MP257F.
Kindly send the solution as early as possible.
     Thank you

Hi @Amruta_Dixit ,

Could you please explain why you need this setup?

I don't think it is possible on the STM32MP257F EV1 board, as it was not intended for this purpose.

Hi @Amruta_Dixit

On EV1 board, would be complex to un-solder components and adding wires to reconnect another RGMII device while maintaining signal/power integrity.

Might be possible for an ugly prototype, assuming it might not work or give stable behavior.

If you don't want to develop now your own board, maybe look to 3rd party SOM using STM32MP257 (Digi, Engicam, Kar-Ro, Phytec, Myir, PowerTip, BytesAtWork, Cargt, etc...). Those might have RGMII pins exposed to their boundaries.
